This is a transitional shop in Milan, Italy designed by Caterina Tiazzoldi for the coffee brand Illy. The concept is conceived for a reconfigurable store, characterized by various modulations of a single element, a “cube” which is 45x45cm-squared base. Using a parametric device, it becomes manageable to manipulate the cube physical properties by editing depth, thickness, opacity, length besides explosions. The combinatory logic – inspired by genetic algorithms process – permits to perform through 3000 configurations of the same object.

Thanks to virtual shelves displayed in three large touch screen devices, digital books are chosen to buy and read, but also on portable devices known as tablets, which are exposed for demonstration.

Located on the city’s main street Tanum Karl Johan is the oldest bookstore in Oslo. The bookshop was founded I 1832 by Papen (Johan) Dahl in the name of J.W.
