The
Valaste waterfall is known to the highest not only in
Estonia, but also in the Baltic States. It is located along the Ontika cliff, which is 56 m high, and has a fall of 26 m. It’s a popular tourist attraction with its spray freezing up spectacularly in winter.

The Valaste waterfall is artificially created recently years ago in the course of draining works. This phenomenal scene is most impressive in springtime – when the snow is melting and the waters rush down from the dramatic cliff. In wintertime the water freezes and forms fairy-tale like ice galleries.

Opposite to waterfall has been built platform for tourists, from where you can observe the waterfall. There is a parking lot and a very well made trail using a double spiral staircase to get down the cliff.
