Four Seasons Hotel, Tokyo

Published by misha in Asia, Cultural, Events, Hotels, Japan, Parks, Photos, Relaxing, Urban Tourism

The Four Season Hotel is placed in the Marunouchi central business district, adjacent to Tokyo Station. The hotel offers a striking, contemporary setting within the landmark glass-clad tower of the prestigious Pacific Century Place.

The Four Seasons hotel boasts the most convenient location in town. For first-timers leery of traveling between Narita Airport and Tokyo Station, the hotel offers a unique “greeting” service at the airport to assure a seamless transition all the way to the hotel (cost: Â¥5,250/$44/£22).

This property offers the ultimate in service, privacy, and exclusivity, with a well-trained staff that goes out of its way to make guests feel welcome (including special amenities and services for children).

Guests are accompanied to rooms by guest-relations officers, and with good reason, as rooms are so high-tech it’s almost impossible to figure out even such mundane tasks as double-locking the doors or engaging the bathtub stopper.

At 44 sq. m (474 sq. ft.) and larger, the attractive rooms are tremendous by Tokyo standards, with such standouts as wall-mounted 42-inch plasma-screen TVs with Internet connections, hookups for MP3 players with surround sound, leather-covered desks, bathrooms with separate tub and shower areas, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The ultimate comfort!

At Four Seasons, you enjoy a unique vantage point from which to explore the sights, sounds and experiences around you.

As well as the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi is part of the 31-level Pacific Century Place, a prestigious office and retail development neighbouring Ginza shopping district and Tokyo’s train and subway stations.

It’s wonderful because Tokyo offers four defined seasons with comfortable temperatures throughout. Cherry trees blossom in springtime before temperatures reach 30°C (86°F) in summer months. The vibrant colours of autumn paint a memorable image, amidst crisp temperatures. Relatively mild winter temperatures rarely fall far below freezing.

Tokyo is another world with extremely different lifestyle from the other part of the world. Hidden night clubs have become all the range among a certain Tokyo set. One of these places is Le Baron- one of the few intimate dance clubs.

tokyo_lifestyle6.jpg

In Tokyo dress codes are rarely strict. Enterance fees to clubs are really high, but in the most cases include a couple of drinks. Drink prices also depend on the surroundings. If you are clubbing in one of the city’s many spectacular clubs be prepare that a beer can easily cost 10 000 yen. As well as Tokyo’s gay bars are clustered in the Shinjuku area. They are mostly taken of foreign customers and are most explored with a Japanese companion.

tokyo_lifestyle4.jpg

One of the good thing for bohemian lifestyle is that there aren’t specific licensing hours in Tokyo, despite the minimum drinking are 20 years.

tokyo_lifestyle3.jpg

About the music I would say, that jazz has a large influence and ever growing following in the city and there’re a wide variety of clubs offering excellent live jazz music. Let’s goooo clubbin’!!!

This is an absolutely stunning organic food market and cafe situated in the Omotesando area in Tokyo, Japan. When visitors come up inside they will feel the warm atmosphere and the exude freshness and comfort.

cinagrocafe2.jpg

The function of the cafe and the usage of the space were revolved in the interior design since the ingredients offered at the market on the shelves are also used by the chefs for cooking the dishes available in the cafe restaurant. As well as the food being sold and served in the shop, it was important that pure and simple materials were chosen to create an environment that complimented the philosophy and earnestness of the organicity.

The shades of concrete heighten the effectiveness of the design and focus on straight lines and edges. The abstract of natural light through clinically inserted voids of glass is marvel, allowing pinpoint contrasts to the interior. This building is equally gallery and exhibition.

Undercover House, Harajuku

Published by misha in Arts, Asia, Chillin, Cultural, Japan, Photos, Relaxing, Travel Stories

This is an Undercover Lab building, which is undercover.Hihihihi. Not only is it tucked away in the back streets of Harajuku but the site is also very deceiving. The house is situated in Harajuku which is an area of Tokyo, Japan.

This crazy building creature is studio, press showroom, and office. Hmmm just 3 in 1- a very popular combination these days. The house is 20m long hanger rail to show the entire collection of one season was required. This is housed in a black tube running along the only 20m straight line on the site, which extends out over the entrance driveway. This cantilevered tube extends the building’s influence to the main street in a strong but stealth way.

The tube was made to look as secret as possible, almost like a shipping container where you have no idea of its contents. The tube also conjures up images of telescopes etc, which give the building a mysterious feel _ nobody knowing what quite is going on inside. So much so that some people may feel intimidated just walking under the tube if they are unannounced.

Narita Airport, is also known as New Tokyo International Airport, located in the city of Narita in Chiba Prefecture, about 60 km outside of Tokyo. It consists of two terminal buildings, terminal 1 and terminal 2, with each airline being assigned to one of the two terminals.

In this issuse I’ll present mostly Terminal 1, which is absolutely funky and magnificent place. Narita Terminal 1 handles mostly US and European airlines‘ flights plus Cathay Pacific, Korean Air and Singapore Airlines.

In the earily 60’s Tokyo International Airport was quickly becoming overcrowded. So Japenese government had decided to built a bran new airport with multufunctional terminal. On April 1, 2004, New Tokyo International Airport was opened its doors named as Narita International Airport.

Terminal 1 uses a satellite terminal design and it’s very stylish.Check-in is processed on the fourth floor, and departures and immigration control are on the third floor. Arriving passengers clear immigration on the second floor, then claim their baggage and clear customs on the first floor. Most shops and restaurants are located on the fourth floor of the Central Building and they are absolutly lovely and gorgeous. You can chillin and enjoy your timing there.

Heidi House, Uehara Tokyo

Published by misha in Arts, Asia, Chillin, Cultural, Eating, Japan, Travel Stories, Villas

Heidi House is located in an up-central residential area of Tokyo. The house is keep back from the adjoining site boundaries by 3 meters so there is no fire proofing of the external wall was necessary. This offset from the boundary line established the plan of the building. This is an extremely example for low cost studio and office space.

The idea and construction of the house is very creative simple wooden framed structure was built and lined internally with plywood for lateral strength. An external layer of plywood was not needed structurally, so instead of this layer and a waterproof siding.

Long window openings were made in the plywood sheets in between the structural frame. Internally the plywood skin was painted white, while the wooden structural core of the building was wallpapered with black wallpaper. The wooden ceiling structure was left exposed. No insulation was used in the wall construction, the trapped air pockets used form a thermal buffer.

Many houses are made of wood in Japan, but because they are covered with metal or plastic siding, sometimes even fake bricks, you have no idea that the house is made of wood. It is very clear that this house is made of wood!It is a beautiful wooden-glass house.

Roppoggi Hills Cafe, Tokyo

Published by misha in Arts, Asia, Chillin, Cultural, Eating, Events, Japan, Relaxing, Travel Stories

This is a café in the clouds. It is loacated on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills – overlooking the vast shag-pile in concrete that is Tokyo. The space is organized with low zigzagging walls upholstered in pink leather. It brings a dash of glam and colour to the sleekness of the surroundings.

Sitting in a café with such a outstanding view, it’s hard to keep your attention on your companion’s face. Your eyes keep straying to off the horizon. Rather that try fight this natural impulse, we accentuated it. We created a stepping floor, so those at the back could so over the heads of those nearest the windows. And we added mirrors, to bring some of the view to those unfortunate ones who were still left view-challenged. But not just ordinary mirrors. Convex mirrors used to see around tight street corners in the narrow winding alleys of Tokyo. They provide a gentle reminder of the delights at street-level of the city the café so loftily overlooks.

Gallery Ma, Tokyo

Published by misha in Arts, Asia, Cultural, Events, Japan, Travel Stories

Gallery Ma is sited just above the Nogizaka Subway Station and adjacent to Roppongi in Tokyo. The Gallery Ma is a 14 year old space with exhibiting architecture and related design. The project was created and inserted into the third floor of a six-storey building. On this level, an external quasi-zen-garden bounded by concrete walls cuts the floors above in half, creating a L shape building mass. A glass membrane divides the interior space from the garden and allows total visual invasion into the inserted project. The space is approximately 6.5 x 11 meters in plan and 2.45 meters in section.

The design scheme for Gallery MA is developed from the Homolosine Interrupted Projection Mapping System. The Homolosine Projection depicts the world in a series of sheared ellipses, thus the green surface inside Gallery MA is an “interrupted projection” as it deploys a flattened and empty global surface to form space. The surface bends and loops to form a 3 dimensionally smooth yet complex geometry capable of merging with the graphically logoized world of visual codes and conventional signs.

Chanel Store in Tokyo

Published by vanhal in Asia, Japan, Shopping

chaneltokyo-japan.jpg

Part retail store, part television screen, the glass facade of the Chanel store in Tokyo’s swanky Ginza district lights up the night sky with 700,000 embedded LEDs. The massive display can project footage of fashion show runway scenes or an electronic version of Chanel’s iconic black-and-white tweeds on a larger-than-life scale. The electronic mille-feuille can also transform from see-through to opaque, thanks to a combination of 3,675 square feet of canvas scrim and electronically controlled privacy glass.
In transparent mode, the structure offers clear views inside or outside. But what’s neatly hidden is a complex system of 65,000 microcomputers that can process more than 32 trillion commands per second when the building transforms into a larger-than-life video billboard. The final effect is stunning showmanship in the name of a classic, yet hip and inventive fashion brand.
