Verbier is a resort town in the east central part of the Switzerland. It is dominated by
chalet-style houses and mid-size hotels, giving it a traditional Swiss feel that is at odds with the multi-story hotel blocks and modern atmosphere typical of many major French resorts. This is the French-speaking region of Switzerland, but thanks to its standing as one of the most popular Alpine destinations for British tourists, Verbier also hangs out an “English is spoken” plaque for its visitors.

The mountain village of
Zermatt is one of the great ski and climbing centres of the world. Nestled in a deep valley enclosed between steeply scarped mountains, it is dominated by the huge and gracefully curved pyramid of the Matterhorn. 1. Easier than ever
Two of the UK’s major ski operators, Crystal and Inghams, are featuring Japanese ski resorts in their brochures for the first time this year. Both companies are offering holidays to Niseko and Rusutsu in the northern island of Hokkaido.
