Today the new Museum of Islamic Art opens its doors in Doha, Qatar. The museum is placed on its own island and may be will transformed Qatar into a spectacular art destination. Qatar is an Arab emirate in Southwest Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the larger Arabian Peninsula.

Qatar is a small, thumb shaped peninsula some 11, 437 square km in size, located into the Persian Gulf from the east side of the Arabian Peninsula.
Saudi Arabia is to the west and the
United Arab Emirates to the south. Qatar is a dynamic, modernizing, rapidly developing country, its area may be very small, but the independent emirate is exceedingly wealthy, with one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, thanks to its oil and gas resources. The official language is Arabic but English is widely spoken and understood.
