Clos Pegase
is  majestic temple that’s somehow both awe-inspiring and welcoming. The buildings were designed around this huge tree which is also magnificent. Clos Pegase is located at 1060 Dunaweal Lane, Calistoga, California. Just north of St. Helena off of Hwy-29 or the Silverado Trail.

The Clos Pegase label proudly features Pegasus painted circa 1890 by the French artist Redon. Timeless works honor Bacchus, god of wine.

This picturesque winery features a majestic, neo-Mediterranean temple dedicated to wine and a cave theater with stunning sculptures. The wine is fantastic and the owners have a great story.

The tasting room is well-furnished as well with the centerpiece being the wine.

Another unusual thing  is that they allow anyone to picnic at the site, including bringing your own brown bag lunch.

The Presidio Social Club

Presidio Social Club
seems to be winning the popularity contest. Design details at  Presidio outpost are regimented into: vintage, stainless cabinets and spotless mirrors behind the marble bar; bare-bulb drop-lights alternating with silver-bullet ceiling fans. The Presidio Social Club convenes daily and no membership is ever required.

The restaurant’s airy, country club feel is achieved through low slung tables, large, large windows, and a spacious bar that sweeps its entire length. Grilled steaks and chops, fresh oysters, cracked crab and daily specials.

The cocktail menu is out of this world, and the bartenders really take their time to make the drinks just right…. with all the extras.

The drinks are tasty, the fun-loving atmosphere infectious and the prices hard to beat.  Inspired cocktails are blended fresh-including an expert, balanced Pisco, pineapple punch, and a lingering French.
