Desert Cultural Centre, British Columbia – Canada

The Desert Cultural Centre is designed to be a specific and sustainable response to the building’s unique context – the unusual Canadian desert found south of the Okanagan Valley in Osoyoos, British Columbia. Sited adjacent to a remnant of the Great Basin Desert, this interpretative centre is a part of larger 200-acre master plan that includes a winery, golf club and a resort hotel.

Quebec

As well as a short drive out of town, the Mont Ste.-Anne ski area offers modern lifts, a wide variety of trails and plenty of snow. This mountain is the biggest in Quebec.

An unnamed Canadian victim of the First World War

Anker-6-peacekeepingThe Peacekeeping Monument was erected on Confederation Boulevard in Ottawa. Named “Reconciliation”, the monument honours the contribution made by Canadian peacekeepers; recognizes Canada’s commitment to world peacekeeping and tells the story of Canada’s role in world peacekeeping. Since 1950 more than 112,000 Canadians have served as peacekeepers in countries such as Cyprus, Haiti, Egypt, Cambodia, Bosnia and Rwanda. The Peacekeeping Monument, entitled Reconciliation, was commissioned by the Canadian government in 1988 when the United Nations was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 40 years of international peacekeeping.
