Located on Boston’s waterfront, the New England Aquarium is home to penguins, seals, sea lions, and fish of all stripes. With more than 600 species of aquatic animals and fish and over 20,000 specimens, the New England Aquarium can to interest everyone.

There are many things to do and see at the aquarium. There’s an abundance of other tanks located around the aquarium housing various assorted sea creatures.

Visitors are allowed to touch New England tide pool animals including sea stars, sea urchins, hermit crabs, snails and horseshoe.

Surrounding the Giant Ocean Tank are the aquarium’s most charismatic residents, the penguins. African Penguins, Rockhopper Penguins, and Little Blue Penguins, all on display as you first enter the building.

Though sharks and rays may have a reputation for being ferocious and man-eating, the exact opposite is true.

The more intimate Lounge (which was once a dance club), serves up an ideal after-work menu of cheap eats, quality brews, live music, DJ and occasional burlesque dancers in a warm and inviting setting. Paintings from local artists decorate the walls and private seating upstairs beckons to lovers and xenophobes, alike. The Paradise is here to stay as one of Boston’s best live music venues.
