Lima, capital of Peru, is a modern city which, while constantly expanding, has also managed to maintain the elegance of its Historic Center. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Center, due to the large number of artistic monuments found there, Historic Lima is an enchanting haven of a period long gone. East of the Plaza de Armas at Ucayali 363 is Palacio Torre Tagle, the most famous palace in Lima and one of the most handsome in Peru. Visit both the colonial and modern sections of this “City of Kings”. Colonial sites include the lovely Plaza de Armas with its cathedral and palace, and the exquisite Torre Tagle Palace modern day seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zamosc

Zamosc is a town in southeastern Poland. Zamosc was founded in the year 1580 by the Chancellor and Hetman (head of the army of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) Jan Zamoyski on the trade route linking western and northern Europe with the Black Sea. Modelled on the Italian trading cities and built during the Baroque period by the architect Bernardo Morando, a native of Padua, Zamosc. Renaissance town built from scratch by Hetman Jan Zamoyski in in the mid-16th century. The Baroque town hall dominates the Great Market, which is surrounded by arcade houses of the period. Zamosc is a top class monument of significant historical and artistic value, therefore it was included on the list of the World’s Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1992.

Rundale Palace

Located 79km south of the Latvian capital of Riga, Rundale Palace and Museum lie just outside the town of Bauska. The Rundale Palace is one of the most outstanding monuments of Baroque and Rococo art in Latvia, built between 1736 and 1740 as a summer residence of the Duke of Courtland Ernst Johann Biron.

The Semper Opera House in Dresden is one of the city’s most important cultural institutions

The “Fontana di Trevi” or “Trevi Fountain”, may or may not be the most beautiful fountain in Rome but it certainly is the most famous. It is also the largest and most ambitious of the Baroque fountains in Rome. Known the world over as the fountain where Anita Ekberg cooled off at night in Federico Fellini’s film La Dolce Vita, it is also known for the legend that holds that if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, your return to Rome will be ensured.
