Disney ‘s Magic and Wonder
Disney Magic & Disney Wonder, are the first two Disney-owned cruise ships, delivered 1998 and 1999 respectively. They were built by Fincantieri in Italy, and are 294 metres long (slightly longer than the QE2 – only the Norway is longer amongst operating cruise ships). They are 85000 gross tons, and carry 1750 passengers (lower berths only – 2400 maximum). Five Sulzer diesels, 57663 kW total, drive them at 24 knots. The crew numbers 915.

A seemingly growing trend in the cruise world is the residential cruise ship. And leading the way is The Magellan, at 860 feet long and weighing an incredible 72,000 tons. Facilities on-board include, restaurants, a spa, an indoor pool, an observatory, a greenhouse, a helicopter landing pad, a nightclub and a 450-seat live, satellite broadcast theatre. And, if that wasn’t enough, twelve new condos and a tennis court have now just been announced.
