Housed in a modern building designed by one of the leading Japanese architects – Kisho Kurokawa, Nagoya’s art museum is focused on modern artists of the local Ise Bay area. Opened in 1988, the museum also features works by Ecole de Paris and Mexican Renaissance artists.

The Diaethria species are known as the 88 butterfly because many have the number 88 on their underside wings. A member of the Callicorini family, the Diaethria genus is the third most diverse genus.
