Kumpula Botanic Garden

In Helsinki, there is a mainson with a fascinating history and the botanical garden surrounding it. The garden has been entirely renewed and it was opened to the public in 2009. The Kumpula Mansion has been one of the largest mansions in 19th century Helsinki. Yellow buildings existing today are from early 19th century. How ever the first marks about this place are from early 15th century, before Helsinki was even founded! Kumpula Mansion’s history is vivid and the place is an important part of Helsinki´s history.

Newick Park – Sussex

This classically proportioned Georgian business lies at the  organs of a glorious land demesne, retributive half an time’s aim from Gatwick Field. Newick Park is enclosed by 255 acres of fair gear with wonderful views over the lake and nearby South Downs. The hotel is mainly noted for its terrific weddings!

Natural History Museum, Helsinki

Kid or not – who would not be impressed in front of over 10 meter long dinosaur? I tell you – this is one cool spot to visit in Helsinki! Tyler Brule is one of my favourite journalist and he often flatters Helsinkians with his writings about Helsinki – like he did with his FT-writing – how cozy a place Helsinki is.

Lunds Konsthall

Lund Konsthall Museum is a result of a donation from the Old Savings’ Bank (today’s Finn Savings’ Bank) to the City of Lund, Sweden. In 1953 the City Council decided to accept the gift and invited six architects for a competition to design the new kunsthalle. Lund Konsthall has not fully retained its original architectural expression, but it has escaped thorough reconstruction. In 2004 it underwent a lighter renovation, aiming at restoring as much as possible of the original architecture.

Guu Izakaya Restaurant

Located near Ryerson University, this is one of the most popular Japanese pubs in Toronto. Designed by Dialogue 38, the restaurant’ interior is infused with energy.  The small and intimate space is intended as an informal eatery. The restorant includes a sake bar, communal tables, a patio and an open kitchen.

Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park

The Seattle’s Olympic Sclupture Park consists of a 9-acre outdoor sculpture museum and beach. The park was designed by Weiss Manfredi Architects. It is situated at the northern end of the Seattle seawall and the southern end of Myrtle Edwards Park. he park is operated by the Seattle Art Museum, which also operates an expanded main branch at First Avenue and University Street and the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. It is open and free to the public 365 days a year!

Alyson Shotz

 

 

Alyson Shotz is an American artist located in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated  from the Rhode Island School of Design and took an MFA from the University of Washington in 1991.Alyson Shotz works on the problem of perception and space with sculptures made from a range of synthetic materials such as mirror, glass beads, plastic lenses, thread and steel wire.

Sze Tsung Leong

 

 

Sze Tsung Leong (American and British, born Mexico City 1970) is an artist based in New York. His work includes the series Cities, a detailed depiction of urban formations throughout the globe, from medieval towns to recent constructions, that together form a picture of the world at this particular moment in time at the beginning of the twenty-first century; Horizons, an international collection of images of natural terrains and urban landscapes that considers the relationships between far and near, foreign and familiar; and History Images, which examines the erasure of history and the reshaping of society through the built environment.
