From Catalonia to the Basque country and from Madrid to Valencia, a revolutionary sea-change is in progress, bringing endless innovation to both techniques and flavour combinations. Dreary piles of overcooked paellas take the backseat as exquisitely conceptualized and prepared symphonies of ultra- fresh local produce find their place on the table. Spain‘s gourmet stakes have been raised and completely transformed by the likes of Ferran Adria, Juan Mari Arzak, Martin Berasategui, Sergui Arola – celebrity chefs who have attained somewhat of a rock-star’s status, while dozens of juniors aspire to join the rank of these luminaries. The pattern has been set.

One mountain landscape, which spans the contemporary national borders of France and Spain, centered around the peak of Mount Perdu, a calcareous massif that rises to 3 352 metres. Mont Perdu(meaning lost mountain) is the third highest mountain in the Pyrenees. The mountain is approached by two of Europe’s deepest canyons on the Spanish side. The landscape is a stunning mix of bleak mountains, pastoral countryside, lakes and forests. Mont Perdu site is registered on the Worldwide Heritage list since 1997.

It was built in 1970 at Odeillo in The Pyrenees. It’s a mountain range that forms a natural border between France and Spain. These Mountains were chosen as the best possible site, due to the weather in the area being sunny as much as 300 days a year. Solar furnaces are used to harness the rays of the sun in order to produce extremely high temperatures. This is used to power a furnace producing steel from iron ore.
