Snowkiting at Georgetown Lake

Georgetown Lake is an excellent spot to get into snow kiting and to rip up Montana‘s famous powder. There is a 600 foot high hill across the lake for up and downhill playing. There are also lots of other places to kite within a short distance of the lodges. During the winter the snow kiting is fantastic. Snow falls every other day refreshing the powder on the lake. Wind is regular and averages 15-20. The season is usually from Thanksgiving to Easter.

Winter In Yellowstone

Wildlife-watching is at its peak and some 10,000 hydrothermal features, including erupting geysers and steaming rivers, provide stark contrast to the biting cold. Mammoth Hot Springs

One of the most popular destinations in Yellowstone National Park – Mammoth Hot Springs – is located near the northern entrance to Yellowstone, 48 miles from West Yellowstone, Montana. The main attraction at Mammoth Hot Springs is the terraces. First described by the 1871 Hayden Survey, were given the name of White Mountain Hot Spring, even though they were well known and named before then. Heat, water, limestone, and rock fracture combine to create the terraces. Travertine is deposited as white rock, however the microorganisms and living bacteria create beautiful shades of oranges, pinks, yellows, greens, and browns.
