Livraria Lello is an art nouveau bookstore situated in Oporto, also called Porto, which is the second biggest city in Portugal and a UNESCO Heritage site. Opened in 1906, this bookshop makes you feel like you are in a different time and era. Located not far from “Soares dos Reis”, a Museum of Art, and the Photography Museum, this is one of the most magnificent book shops one can imagine. Livraria Lello is definitely a must-see in Porto.

One of the world’s best looking libraries

Located in Perugia – a town known more for its plethora of old churches that its modern-retro architecture, only 200 km north of Rome, Italy, the Perugian library takes the shape of a large disc presents itself as a foreign object. This is one incredible library similar to the optimistic 1980s vision of the extra-terrestrial ET. Designed by architecture studio Italo Rota, the interior of the library resembles a cross between a dot-com office and the 13 year old girl’s room – colorful couches and pastel book shelves mix with the pink-hued light produced by the glass walls. Its form and use of color, its transparency during the daytime, and the light it emits at night create a new landscape. You should visit this library at night, when the bright round shape of the library building looks other-worldly.
