Willemstad

Like Havana and San Juan, Willemstad is a typical port town. A chief town of Curacao and the Netherlands Antilles, is one of the world’s richest cities in culture and diversity. It has a population of 135,000, comprising 55 nationalities.  Located on the southern coast of Curacao in the Caribbean Sea, historic Willemstad earns the UNESCO hallmark of World Heritage City in December 1997.

Dominica

At 45 km long and 25 km wide, Dominica is the most mountainous of the volcanic Antilles. The 1,447 m Morne DiablotinMorne Trois Pitons and at 1,400 m are the highest peaks whose proximity attracts much more rain than most islands. The result is Dominica’s famously fabulous tropical rainforest, full of rushing torrents, cascades and stepped waterfalls. It’s a dark-green world slashed by ribbons of bright sunshine striking into the pretty valleys, catching the colours of trails of orchids, bougainvillea and hibiscus, and populated by vivid blue, red, yellow signature splashes of the island’s astonishing birds.

Eco Island

Bonaire

Bonaire is an island part of Netherlands, Antilles and soon will be the first island in the Caribbean with a 100% sustainable energy supply. The government of Bonaire, who boasts on its island’s beauty and natural preservation, took a project of trashing its fossil fuel energy dependence and developing an energy system comprised of an 11MW wind farm, 14MW biodiesel plant, and a 3.5MW backup battery. Ecopower Bonaire BV, a consortium of Dutch-German companies, Evelop, Enercon, and local Bonaire Water and Energy Company, is spearheading this project that is expected to finish at the end of 2009.

St. Martin is a tropical island in the northeast Caribbean, approximately 240 km east of Puerto Rico. The 98 km² island is divided roughly in half between France and the Netherlands. It is one of the smallest inhabited landmasses in the world that is divided between two nations. The southern Dutch half is called Sint Maarten and is part of the Netherlands Antilles. The northern French half is called Saint-Martin and is part of the French overseas region and department of Guadeloupe. The main towns are Marigot (French side) and Philipsburg (Dutch side). The French part of the island has a land area of 53.20 km². Sint Maarten, the Dutch part of the island, has a land area of 34 km².

U.S. Virgin Islands are the most popular destination in the Caribbean

The United States Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean that are an insular area of the United States. The islands are geographically part of the Virgin Islands and are located in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The U.S. Virgin Islands consist of the four main islands of St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, and Water Island, and many smaller islands. It is the only part of the United States where traffic drives on the left. The total land area of the territory is 346.36 square km.

Martinique is an island in the eastern Caribbean Sea, having a total area of 1,128 km². It is an overseas department of France. Like the other islands, Martinique is also one of the 26 regions of France, and an integral part of the Republic. As part of France, Martinique is part of the European Union, the currency used is the euro. Its official language is French, although almost all of its inhabitants also speak Antillean Creole. Martinique is pictured on all euro banknotes. Fort de France is the capital of Martinique and the largest city in the French Antilles, and it has a population of 94,049 inhabitants. It is also one of the major cities in the Caribbean. The city centre is resplendent with architecture dating back to the start of the 19th Century and monuments that speak of the island’s history. The full range of shops, restaurants and services are available in a distinctly Caribbean style. Larger shopping and cinema complexes and meeting centers are located on the periphery of the city.
