The Monastery is placed against an almost vertical background, high up in the large rock of Ostroska Greda, in Montenegro. It was built in the 17th century by Bishop St. Vasilije. He was one of the four Montenegrin saints and his relics are kept in the Monastery. One of the most sanctuary places for Orthodox Christians on the Balkans, it attracted by believers from all around the world – people of all religions and nations. According to the stories of pilgrims, the enshrined body of St. Vasilije have healing power and makes miracles work – many have been cured and helped in lessening the difficulties in their lives.

The wild, turquoise blue waters of the Tara River pass out a soft limestone surface, forming one of incredible gorges in Montenegro. The 82 km long Tara Canyon is the second longest canyon in the globe, coming just after the Colorado canyon. Known also as “Tear of Europe” it’s a world heritage site designates by UNESCO.

Republic of Montenegro. This little country is part of the Balkans and part of the Mediterranean, near Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Croatia,
Italy and
Albania. Despite its small size there are so many contrasts and so much natural beauty. The total length of the spectacular Montenegrin coastline is 290 kilometers, 73 km of which are sandy beaches. Some beaches are kilometers long or only a couple of tens of meters.
