Turku is a post-modern city in Finland and today the city has a new library to celebrate for! The new city library in Turku is located at the historical centre of the city. The building is the latest addition to a block with the old library and several other historically valuable buildings.

The library has a functionally clear design. The public spaces are situated mainly on two floors surrounding the opening to the courtyard. The staff premises are located systematically on one side of the building facing the street. The first floor has a reception and lounge area, a children’s and youth section.

The building was made from concrete cast on site and fair-faced concrete was formed with vertical boards to achieve the rough feeling characteristic of the material. Glass was given a seminal role both in the outer architecture and the interior world. Transparency befits this type of building; a public library building should evoke the idea of openness.

Two advertising agencies decided to establish a join in Tokyo known as T/H. The first agency is called TBWA which is a global advertising company working with Apple and Addidas. The second one is Hakuhodo- again an enormous one work with Nissan globally.

The collaboration was 3 way between the 2 agencies and the designers. So they beagn their search and eventually they discovered an old bowling alley in a large 8 storey amusment complex in downtown Tokyo.

The amusement complex was still in use, especially the bowling and golf driving ranges which are below, but the other upper two floors were empty.Bowling alleys are great because they are column free, and after removing the suspended ceiling they revealed a double height space. This also revealed 2m deep down-stand beams which they were re-clad integrating lighting and air-conditioning. The over riding rhythm of the beams naturally leaded them to arrange the desks in bowling lanes with circulation between them. A central park runs through the middle of the space and a series of shelters for meeting rooms, project rooms and director’s offices generate a small townscape in the space, where the raised areas on top of the shelters make for pleasant breakout spaces.

So the office space was located on the 6th floor of the building. This floor is multyfunctional. It is a reception, a gallery and a meeting space for visitors and customers. A wide stair on both side onto the main floor arriving in the central park cafe area. Stepped seating and a large plasma screen allow this space to be a very flexible presentation space.

The space is not only used by T\H but also for collaborative events with their clients such as receptions, fashion shows, product launches often resulting in happy parties. Especially on ‘Beer Thursday’ when after hours all at T\H come together for a drink, a chat and a mingle!

The Screening Room is located 54 ft of street frontage on Camden Drive Beverly Hills, California. The room is not only for a high performance, it also consist 80 seat space for viewing films, a large pre function lobby area, a kitchen/bar and a major facade to the street. The idea is the private space to become more public.

The aluminum panel facade and the smooth white ceiling and wall surfaces allows passersby to peek in through, and around these surfaces to catch fragments of the floor and ceiling surfaces inside. This sense is analogous to cinema watching or even stargazing.

Inside, the ceiling surface splits into 3 major bands that each has its own programmatic performance and sectional profile. The exterior wall of the screening room is wrapped with wallpaper designed by 2X4. The interior of the screening room is a deeply saturated red world consisting of different materials and textures of paint, carpet, and fabric.

When you entered through the entrance gate, you’ll surounded from a front garden with small and large trees. A few steps forward will bring you into the existing cafeteria, which is sole place in the university shared by both students to spend their time waiting for the bus in the library.

If you want to climbing the stairs to the second floor, you’ll find large art books on low bookshelves crossing under the arches. Between these shelves are study desks of various sizes. A large table with a copy machine allows users to do professional editing work.

The library is an interactive place where everyone can discover their own style of arts with books and film media, as you was walking through a deep forest or in a deep cave.

It might be winter, but this is Miami, the setting is a beach, and you’re a world away from the fog and cold of Europe, New York and LA.
The conference last five days and includes seminars, demo workshops, DJ spin-offs and countless other events, culminating in a delirious final party, the Ultra Music Festival, at which 40,000 fans watch 200 of the best DJs in the world perform on 10 stages. Registration starts at US$395 – and if you’re worried this makes it seem that the music industry has gone too corporate, don’t: you can always put it on expenses.

As you are probably awared Dubai invests in artificial resort islands to attract tourism dollars lately. One of the projects developing there is called The World and consists of man-made islands which form the shape of our planet’s continents.

An array of island parcels means an array of possibilities. Engineered to be flexible and designed to be unforgettable – a blank canvas in the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf. An incomparable destination, The World is a collection of private islands that form a singular expression of exclusivity. Located off the coast of Dubai’s most desirable address, and created by Nakheel, Dubai’s premier developer, The World is quickly evolving into a one-of-a-kind destination and investment opportunity. Currently about half of the islands have already been sold so if you’re looking for a paradise place like this for yourself, you need to check it out at the so called Island Inventory. One of the best things about investing in this kind of island is that you can shape it in any manner you choose, putting a palm trees or an oasises here and there is no problem. So the point of this is “If you got the money, you purchase the music”.

At the official website you can see pieces of amazing computer animation simulation of what some of the larger islands are going to look like once completed.

Impressive!!! Isn’t it?
