Howick Historical Village is an award winning heritage attraction situated in surrounding Auckland suburb of Howick. This is a living history museum shows the history and life as it was for Auckland’s early settlers in the period 1840-1880. It comprises thirty original buildings set in 7 acres of grounds and gardens. The streets, the pond with ducks and geese, and the village gardens are faithful reconstructions of Victorian fashion, and there’s a cafe with homemade goodies as well.

Located in the area of Cairo called Mar Girgis, where many of the oldest Coptic churches and Jewish synagogues can be found, the Coptic Museum is a small museum hosting the world’s largest collection of Coptic Christian artwork. Founded by Marcus Simaika Pasha in 1910, the museum displays the history of Coptic Christianity in Egypt from its beginnings to the present day. It is a significant aspect of Egyptian history as its emergence marked the end of pagan religion and the birth of Islam in Egypt.

Nestled in Greenbelt Park in the heart of Makati City, the Philippines, Ayala Museum is considered one of the leading cultural institutions of Philippine art and culture. It displays the finest collections of dioramas of Philippine history and works of renowned Filipino painters. Established by Filipino abstract painter and one of the premier multimedia artists in the country - Fernando Zobel, the museum was opened in 1967 but the current building was inaugurated in September 2004 and was designed by Leandro V. Located in Ubud on Bali, Indonesia, the Agung Rai Museum of Art was officially opened by the Indonesian Minister for Education and Culture on 9 June 1996. Set in four acres of beautifully landscape grounds, ARMA is the living center for the visual and performing arts in Ubud. It houses a remarkable private collection of works by Balinese, Javanese and foreign artists. Visitors will enjoy and marvel at the painting exhibits placed either permanently or alternately substituted.

The Kolkata Indian Museum is considered as the largest museum in India. Established on 2 February, 1814 at the cradle of the Asiatic Society Building, it is the earliest museum in the Asia Pacific region. Founded by Dr Nathaniel Wallich (a botanist from Denmark), the museum is included as an Institute of national importance in the seventh schedule of the Constitution of India (It is an independent institution funded by the Government of India). Placed in Italian architectural style building designed by Walter B Grawille, the Indian Museum has over 60 galleries and is divided into six main sectors.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, is one of the most famous museums of India. Founded in the early years of the 20th century by some prominent citizens of Bombay, the Prince of Wales Museum was built to represent the ancient and medieval architectural styles of western India. It is a place for research for Indians and foreigners. Located in the heart of South Mumbai, it is housed in a domed building in the Indo-Saracenic style. Designed by architect George Wittet, it is a major attraction for all visitors and residents of the city.

With so many tourist attractions in Hong Kong available to visitors, few people travel here to gain a glimpse into China’s rich artistic past, and fewer tend to seek out the handful of waiting Hong Kong museums. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is the main art museum of Hong Kong. Founded in 1962, it was once housed in the City Hall. In 1991, it moved to its present location at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, the Hong Kong Museum of Art is probably the most renowned of the city’s museums.

Located in the center of Shanghai in People’s Square, the Shanghai Museum is one of the most famous if not the most famous in China. Demonstrates ancient wisdom and philosophy, the museum has a collection of over 120,000 cultural pieces, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, Ming and Qing-dynasty furniture, jades, ancient coins, paintings, seals, sculptures and China’s national minority art. The museum also has a library collection of more than 200,000 books on Chinese art and history.

Located near the town of Magdeburg, Germany, the Magdeburg Water Bridge aqueduct is an engineering masterpiece. Opened in October 2003, it is a navigable aqueduct in Germany that connects the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittelland Canal, and allows ships to cross over the Elbe River. With a total length of 918 metres, this bridge is the longest navigable aqueduct in the world.
