napoli

One, one hundred, one thousand cities in the same space, in the enchanting and unmistakable space of the most famous Gulf in the world: Naples, that reveals, starting from its name, its Greek origins. It is homeland of kings, artists and great figures in history, but even of characters that you can only meet in the streets and lanes of this town. who doesn’t know pizza, spaghetti and mandolin? In fact, the beauties of this enchanting land are renowned: from the archaeological finds to the handcraft shops. The visitor is fascinated by the cooking just as much as by the majesty of Mount Vesuvius or the Capri‘s Stacks and by the Bourbon’s china from Capodimonte. The citizens say that you can identify a Neapolitan everywhere, because who is native of this land is a carrier, in his DNA, of all the typicality of an original and unequaled town. Tourists cannot be indifferent to the enigmatic fascination of the market, the fishing boats and the women on the balconies, as they achieve an inexplicable value in this town. The bracing and silvery air of Naples, rich in scents and perfumes mixed with the saltiness of the wonderful sea that laps on its shores, can remember that even the air itself, like Venus, was born between the clear waves of the Mediterranean.

redfort

The largest of old Delhi’s monuments is the Lal Quila or the Red Fort. In 1638 Shah Jahan shifted the Mughal Empire’s capital from Agra to Delhi. The Red Fort stands at the eastern edge of Shahjahanabad, and gets its name from the massive wall of red sandstone that defines its eight sides. Designed by the Mughal architects Ustad Hamid and Ahmad, Red Fort is an important symbolic monument in India even today. Every year on Independence Day (15th August) the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag and addresses the nation, from the ramparts of Red fort. Its rampart walls cover a perimeter of 2.5 kilometers and rise to a height of 33 meters on the town side and 18 meters on the riverside. Measurements have shown that the plan was generated using a square grid of 82m.

Sigiriya – The 8th wonder of the World

Published by in Adventure, Asia, Climbing, Cultural, History, Sri Lanka, UNESCO

Sri Lanka SigiriyaSigiriya is a major archaeological site in North Central Sri Lanka. At Sigiriya we find the ruins of an ancient palace complex built during the reign of King Kasyapa. It has been ascribed by UNESCO as one of the seven World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. Probably the most recognizable feature in Sri Lanka is the spectacular rock fortress of Sigiriya. Originally built in 477 A.D. as an impregnable fortress and palace, Sigiriya was later used as a monastic refuge in the 16th and 17th centuries. The rock dramatically rises 200 meters above the surrounding plains and it is a wonder to imagine how they managed to carry up the materials necessary for its construction. At the base lies the remains of the royal rock and water gardens in what once was the lush pleasure gardens of the royalty. The most significant feature of the Rock would have been the Lion staircase leading to the palace garden on the summit. Lion staircase leading to the palace garden on the summit of Sigiriya Rock. Based on the ideas described in some of the graffiti, this Lion staircase could be visualised as a gigantic figure towering majestically against the granite cliff, facing north, bright coloured, and awe-inspiring. Built in the 5 century AC this magnificent complex of geometrically laid gardens, pools, fountains (still working today) as well as oldest surviving murals of maidens has been a palace of the King Kasyapa.
