One of three national contemporary art museums in Japan

The National Museum of Art is a subterranean Japanese art museum occupies two underground floors on the island of Nakanoshima, Osaka. Inspired by the life force of bamboo, the museum’s current building was opened in 2007 and represents the growth and shape of a bamboo plant. Soaring titanium coated steel tubes, resembling the wings of a butterfly, rise from the lobby to become a sculptural icon on the Osaka skyline.

Asian art is currently attracting the world’s attention and now we are presenting you one museum that claims to be the only museum in the world that systematically collects and exhibits Asian modern and contemporary art - The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. Located in Fukuoka City in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan, the museum is a part of the city’s progressive strategy for interaction with different Asian cultures. Opened in 1999, the Fukuoka Museum displays a wide variety of Asian art and culture together under one roof.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, is one of the most famous museums of India. Founded in the early years of the 20th century by some prominent citizens of Bombay, the Prince of Wales Museum was built to represent the ancient and medieval architectural styles of western India. It is a place for research for Indians and foreigners. Located in the heart of South Mumbai, it is housed in a domed building in the Indo-Saracenic style. Designed by architect George Wittet, it is a major attraction for all visitors and residents of the city.

Astronomy and space science

Located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, The Hong Kong Space Museum is one of the most famous landmarks in Hong Kong. Easily recognized by its unique egg-shaped dome building, it is the only planetarium in the city, built to popularize astronomy and space science. Construction began in 1977 and was completed in 1980. Covering an area of 8,000 square meters, it managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government.

The Hong Kong Museum of Art

With so many tourist attractions in Hong Kong available to visitors, few people travel here to gain a glimpse into China’s rich artistic past, and fewer tend to seek out the handful of waiting Hong Kong museums. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is the main art museum of Hong Kong. Founded in 1962, it was once housed in the City Hall. In 1991, it moved to its present location at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, the Hong Kong Museum of Art is probably the most renowned of the city’s museums.
