A cultural network between a theater and library

Libraries are often stuffy and don’t encourage creativity, but the Taltal Public Library offers an entirely unique setting for reading your favorite books. Designed by architects Murua-Valenzuela, the three-storey-high library is located in the small town of Taltal, where it faces a public place and recently completed theatre. Taltal is a coastal town in the Antofagasta Region, Chile, 306 Km. south of the city of Antofagasta and 25.4 degrees latitude south.

Who thought that scaffolding and shipping containers could have multiple uses?

This unique idea – to make a cafe from scaffolding and shipping containers was brought to light by Paris studio 1024 Architecture. Les Grandes Tables is located on an island on the Seine in Paris – on the Ile Seguin, where architect Jean Nouvel is currently converting a car workshop into a museum. The project is an architectural combination between an agricultural greenhouse, a barge and a timber-frame house covered beneath a see-through umbrella.

Designed by the Office Sabrine Santos formation & Interiors, the Saraiva Bookstore at Casa Cor, Sao Paulo, provides a new way to display books and magazines in digital form, integrating seamlessly with the characteristic form of presentation and reading. Thanks to virtual shelves displayed in three large touch screen devices, digital books are chosen to buy and read, but also on portable devices known as tablets, which are exposed for demonstration.

The most heavily guarded castle in the world

 Set amongst the magnificent scenery of Royal Deeside, in the shadows of Lochnagar is the  Balmoral Estate. It may see equivalent a fancy medieval mansion but Balmoral Castle  in Balmoral  Scotland  was actually collective for Chessman Waterfall and completed in 1856.

Alguena is a small village in the interior of Alicante County, Spain, with a population of two thousand and an economy based in agriculture and marble industries. Spanish practice Cor & Asociados has recently completed “music hall and house in Alguena”, a venue for the musical and cultural activities of this small village.

Nadau Lavergne design

Paris architects Nadau Lavergne have completed a round wooden theater and matching circular restaurant for a campsite in the south of France. The campsite of La Rive is located in the Landes, bordered on the west by Lake Biscarosse. The site is characterized by a flat-type heath pine forest. A strip trees surrounded the beach and works as a visual screen and it saves the natural landscape around it. Zigzagging columns support the projecting facade of the eight metre-high theatre, creating a surrounding arcade that shelters the entrance.

Like being on a roller coaster

The 21-metre-high sculptural walkway is named Tiger and Turtle – Magic Mountain and is positioned upon a hilltop in Duisburg, Germany. Designed by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth, this huge staircase winds across the surface of the rally structure, which spirals around itself just adore the fairground ride. Visitors can climb onto the sculpture where it meets the ground, but a loop-the-loop at the center prevents anyone being able to walk a full circuit. Since November 2011 the large-scale sculpture is open for the public and is considered as the greatest landmark for the Ruhr region.

WUHAO The Teahouse

WUHAO The Teahouse is a Beijing-based concept shop, founded upon the five elements of Chinese philosophy (fire, metal, water, wood, and earth) and showcasing the works of over 55 Chinese and international designers. Especially for Beijing Design Week, the company moved into the two-storey building in the city’s historic Dashilar district to host numbers of installations, including plastic yellow canaries disguised as growing lemons and an bent opening lined with green paper butterflies. The design retailer WUHAO  partnered with the socially responsible Chinese tea company Tranquil Tuesdays to display a new vision of this traditional space.

The home of the New World Symphony

Ten years ago Miami was known mostly for its beaches and nightlife. Nowadays it is a cultural destination with burgeoning ambitions. The city’s museums are expanding and its private spaces for art are increasingly active. Major buildings by Frank Gehry, Herzog & de Meuron and Zaha Hadid have either been finished or are planned. New World Center by Frank Gehry Partners LLP is located in Miami beach’s new city center, the building serves as the new system symphony’s campus, dedicated to the artistic development also education of the next generation of classical musicians.
