Founded in 1548, La Paz is the legislative capital of Bolivia and the second largest city after Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Located at an elevation of 3,650 m above sea level, the city offers a vibrant mix of ethnic, colonial and international heritages. Hundreds of different museums can be found across the city, the most notable ones on Jaen Street, which street design has been preserved from the Spanish days and is home of 10 different museums.

Located in eastern Andalusia, in the province of Granada, Spain, the Andasol solar power station is Europe’s first commercial parabolic trough solar thermal power plant. Occupies about 200 hectares of land, it is comprised of three power plants, namely Andasol 1, 2 and 3. The three plants constitute the largest solar power station in the world. Its name is a combination of Andalusia and Sol (sun in Spanish).

No, this isn’t a screenshot from the latest SimCity computer game or from the Facebook Farmville. These circular structures form a little community located in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The city has a multitude of districts, each representing its time and with its own distinctive character, making up a dense urban fabric. The photos are part of the project “Earth From Above” which is a result of five-year airborne odyssey across six continents of the local photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

Situated just 20 miles from the port town of Haifa and 7 miles from the ancient town of Nazareth, Nahalal is the first Moshav in Israel. In biblical times, Nahalal was a town in the territory of the tribe of Zebulun, the exact site of which is still in dispute. Founded in 1921 by Jewish settlers from Eastern Europe, the Moshav is built on a low and wide hill, approximately 100 m above sea level and is spread on an area of about 9,000 dunams of heavy brown/black soil. Located in the beautiful jesrael Valley in the northern part of Israel, Nahalal is one of the principal centers of the moshav movement, with a population of about 1,300.

Situated on the north-west coast of Norway beyond the Arctic Circle, between Andoya and the continental part of Norway, Senja is Norway’s second largest island. The west coast of the island Senja has been selected as one of the most spectacular landscapes in Norway. The Tungeneset is located at the tip of a peninsula between two fjords. This is a rest area with services and full accessibility close to the sea. The view is spectacular, with the North Sea to the west and the Okshornan-peaks to the north. Named after the Royal Basilica of the lady of Atocha, this is the largest station in Spain and is commonly known as Madrid Puerta de Atocha. The Atocha station memorial is a memorial monument located at Atocha station in Madrid that commemorates the 191 victims of the 11 March 2004 Madrid train bombings. It was inaugurated at the very site across from the round train station building on March 11 2007, the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the convoy to Yechiam, the memorial site for those who were killed in the convoy, and for the fallen Kibbutz members, was designed. Designed by Israeli architects SO Architecture, the memorial commemorates Israelis killed in the area around Yehiam during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. The project is situated in Kibbutz Yechiam on the north of Israel in the community center area.
