<p>In a country blessed with multitude of beautiful landscapes, <em><strong>Spis</strong></em> is considered a little bit special, even by the Slovaks. Interestingly, the region has no official status with <a title="Slovakia" href="http://www.wayfaring.info/category/countries/slovakia/"><em><strong>Slovakia</strong></em></a>. It is not an administrative area but rather a place defined by its shared culture, dialect and dress. For the Slovakians its influence is profound &#8211; everyone can tell you how to get there. <em><strong>Photo by: </strong></em><strong><a title="Link to Statiönchen 1's photostream" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/8493691@N07/"><strong>Statiönchen 1</strong></a><span id="more-17987"></span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="size-full wp-image-17990 aligncenter" title="spis" src="http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/spis3.jpg" alt="spis" width="375" height="500" /></p>
<p>Its borders are generally defined as being the <em>Tatras Mountains</em> to the north, the<em> Lovoca Mountains</em> to the east, and the <em>Slovenske Rudohorie Mountains</em> to the south. It is a rolling hilly place filled with beautiful walking routes that take you along step, forest-clad canyons, dotted with waterfalls and fast-flowing steams. In the summer people come to hike the trails and soak in thermal spas, and in winter they come to ski. <em><strong>Photo by: </strong></em><a title="Link to richard-hutyra's photostream" rel="dc:creator cc:attributionURL" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/richard_hutyra/"><strong>richard-hutyra</strong></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="size-full wp-image-17988 aligncenter" title="spis" src="http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/spis1.jpg" alt="spis" width="540" height="405" /></p>
<p><em><strong>Spis</strong></em>&#8216;s attractions are historic as well as natural. Its major landmark is the majestic <em>Spis Castle</em> &#8211; one of Europe&#8217;s largest fortresses &#8211; which looms on perilous cliffs 2,080 feet (634 m) above sea level and provides towering views of the surrounding landscape. <em><strong>Location:</strong></em> Spis, Slovakia. <em><strong>Photo by: </strong></em><a title="Link to sevensecuk's photostream" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/7846748@N06/"><strong>sevensecuk</strong></a></p>

The sport ride is a totally bizarre but also it&#8217;s fun experience. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages who don’t mind being strapped inside an enormous clear plastic ball.<span id="more-9226"></span></p>
<p><center><img width="584" src="http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/zorbing.jpg" alt="zorb 1" height="283" /></center>The Zorb is a gigantic polythene ball standing about three metres in height, which contains inner capsule that is suspended into position by thousand nylon strands of varying colours. There are two choices of ride. <center><img src="http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/waterzorb.jpg" alt="waterzorbing" /></center> You can choose between a harness or hydro ride. The hydro ride is similar to sitting inside a washing machine, as you slither down the hill. Bring a dry set of clothes if you choose this option! The harness is more extreme, one of you then does giant forward rolls down the hill, the other does backward rolls. <center><img src="http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/2456910396_c6cfe2c871.jpg" alt="extreme zorbing" /></center> Zorbing is currently practiced in United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, New Zealand, Estonia, Australia’s Gold Coast, Canada, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Japan, India, Thailand and Slovenia. Prices vary for different packages, but generally is about $40 a trip.</p>
