Chic modern design, great facilities… Located on the edge of China Town, this exotic boutique hotel gives easy access to shopping, entertainment and nightlife areas. The lobby with furniture dating back to the 1920’s showcases the imaginative possibility of this blend between old and new. The New Majestic Hotel Singapore is a convenient 20 minute drive from the airport and a 5 minute drive from the city center.

The true charm of the New Majestic Hotel derives from the 30 individually designed rooms. The rooms adhere to different themes from the “Hanging Bed Room” where murals span whole walls through to the incredible Aquarium Room where a glass-encased bathtub sits in the middle of the room. Many rooms include private garden areas, customized baths and six meter high ceilings with floor to ceiling mirrors.

The unique styled rooms feature: Bose stereos, flat-screen TV, iPod dock, Kiehls’ toiletries, massaging showerheads, and wireless internet. Back downstairs, The Majestic Restaurant is a sleek reinterpretation of one of Singapore’s favorite Chinese dining rooms and serves modern Cantonese cuisine.

Telok Blangah Hill Park is located in Singapore, and giving you the very rare experience of viewing towering treetops from a monkey’s perspective. The pathways and suspension bridges are anything but rickety though. By the way many of them are elegant works of art and architectural precision.

The project of Telok Blangah Park is definitely spectacular. Many parks are designed by chopping trees down to make room for open space and eliminating the animals that make their home there, Telok Blangah’s layout chose to preserve the natural landscape and instead build around it. Furthermore, the web-like paths consist of open structures which allow light and air to pass through. Some of the most awe-inspiring connection points are the undulating Henderson Waves (Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge) and Alexandra Arch, which sparkles every night with a dazzling colour-changing.

Another gerat feature of this greenly paradise is that you can actually come face to face with some of the rich wildlife that lives there such as squirrels, sunbirds, doves, lizards and white-crested laughing thrushes. As well as some researchers doing something often in the nearby HSBC Treetop Walk studying the rain forest canopy which, if not for the unique aerial structures, would not be an easy place to access at all.

This is the largest fountain in the world, with a base area of 1,683 sq. m. The fountain is a brilliant architecture’s work fused with modern concepts. It is anchored by a convention centre – Suntec City that forms the wrist of the left hand. The five office buildings represent its thumb and fingers. The fountain stands majestically at the palm of the hand, symbolizing the Chinese saying “to hold the wealth of the world in one’s hand”.

Four 13 m high bronze legs support a huge bronze ring measuring 21 m in diameter. It weighs a hefty 85 tones. The ring shoots water inwards into the reservoir below while at the heart of the fountain, water shoots up to 30 m into the air.

The feng shui experts translate: the four legs symbolize the four races and religions of Singapore, and the ring is based on a Hindu “Mandala” representing unity and peace. The bronze material is also significant as Chinese believe that when metal and water are balanced correctly, a pathway to success will follow. The water flowing inwards represents riches pouring in. Take a walk round the fountain and touch the water for good luck and prosperity.

This is Beipanjiang River Railroad Bridge located in Guizhou, China. The bridge is a huge railway bridge that was built as part of the much larger ‘guizhou-shuibai railway project and connects two mountains. Its highest point is 918ft above the ground. The bridge has succeeded in connecting 2 of the country’s poorest areas.

This one is a Pedestrian Bridge located in Lake Austin, Texas. The bridge looks enjoyably risky to use, and is in fact not for public consumption – it links the main house on the estate to a guest house, across the lake. The 100ft arch structure has a main span of 80ft, achieved through the ‘nesting’ of five 5 inch diameter pipes that diverge from the spring point of the main span and the abutments.

This is Kintaikyo Iwakuni Bridge in Japan. The original Kintai Bridge was built in 1673 and didn’t last long until it was damaged due to flooding. It was then rebuilt and survived for more than 200 years until a typhoon battered it to death in 1950. The bridge that is now over the Nishiki river is the 3rd one and looks magnificent, it’s 5 wooden arches displaying an anamazing amount of detail and craftsmanship.

‘Henderson Waves’ is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and can be found in a beautiful 9km stretch of gardens and parks. The bridge is a spectacular landmark. The horizontal part is made of thousands of balau wood slats, perfectly cut and arranged, and along the length of the deck a huge snaking, undulating shell cleverly forms sheltered seating areas on every upward curve.

This is a bridge. The only difference is that the bridge can’t be used by humans because of the fact that its purpose is to support 2 pipelines – 1 gas, 1 oil – across the extremely high gap in Papua New Guinea.

It features  hundreds of activities – a 4-week infusion of performances and events that inspires and captures the public imagination of the city. The festival first started in 1977 as a national arts festival celebrating the local arts activities of Singapore’s various communities.
Singapore is very clean, efficient and marvelous place with open-air bars, where young Singaporeans with stylish hair toss back martinis until the early morning. As well as the Ministry of Sound, has opened a branch in Singapore that pounds with local dj’s.

But if you prefer to taste more deeply Singapore you should take a tour into the Singapore Botanic Gardens. They are a 157-acre park, where you’ll see a a medley of Chinese, Indians and Malays practicing martial arts, doing yoga and flirting.

Singapore has its share of white-linen restaurants, open-air food courts where each stall serves one dish and the cooks yell out their specialties like ballpark vendors. One of the most popular food village is located at the tropical park on the beach. With more than 50 stalls, the Village offers everything from barbecued tiger prawns to Indonesian satay to drinks made from grass jelly and aloe vera. Dinner for one, about 10 Singapore dollars, or $6.80 at 1.47 Singapore dollars to the U.S. dollar.

But the skyscrapers in the city-centre makes it easy to forget that parks cover much of this island. Today the city is most popular with its adventure sports. If you get up before the mercury rises and head to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, a 400-acre rain forest that is home to garrulous macaques and some 500 other animal species. Hiking and biking trails wind through the jungle, creeping with vines and giant ferns. Watch out for the flying lemurs: the possum-sized critters glide overhead between huge jelutong trees.

The first facility will be located in Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, while Singapore’s Changi Airport will grow to accommodate the second Spaceport. The both facilities will offer suborbital voyages as main attraction. Space Adventures has yet to announce how much these voyages will cost tourists, but they are adamant that they will be affordable (for someone:) ). I am currently preparing some information about Space Adventures` tourist service so stay in touch…

This Buddhist temple is one of the largest places of worship in Singapore. It is the biggest complex of temples in Singapore and amongst one of the largest in South-East Asia. Examples of Chinese decoration, statues and shrines are found within peaceful gardens and the constant hum of prayers add to the tranquility. Saffron roofs, adorned with dragons and birds, compete with fire-engine-red doors to arrest the attention. Columns are covered with ornate carvings of lions, and swastikas loom over doorways, although these are the anti-clockwise version, an ancient symbol of good luck and protection.
In 1920, Venerable Zhuan Dao realised that the time was right to build a place of practice to propagate the Dharma and to provide lodging for monks, as there were many Buddhist monks who came to Singapore without lodging. In 1921, the building of Phor Kark See Monastery started as the first traditional Chinese forest monastery in Singapore.Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple, better known as The Bright Hill Temple, is in fact a Buddhist Temple. It is the largest religious building complex of Singapore. The largest and most modern religious complex on the island, this place, called Phor Kark See for short, is comprised of prayer and meditation halls, a hospice, gardens, and a vegetarian restaurant. The largest building is the Chinese-style Hall of Great Compassion. There is also the octagonal Hall of Great Virtue and a towering pagoda. Compared to other temples on the island, Phor Kark See seems shiny — having only been built in 1981. As a result, the religious images inside carry a strange, almost artificial, cartoon air about them.Commonly known as The Bright Hill Temple, the Phor Kark See Temple, is the largest temple complex in Singapore encompassing some 9 hectares (18 acres). Definitely worth visiting if for nothing else than it’s sheer size, the temple features beautiful Chinese pagodas replete with dragons, birds and other exquisite decorations, Buddhist library, large turtle pool and huge crematorium.

It is not only a very big Temple complex, but there are also the luxurious decorations of the buildings. As you can see again this is a paradise for the amateur photographer, as all these buildings are very colourful decorated. Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple at Sin Ming Avenue is an excellent place to experience this annual ceremony of family togetherness.
