Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, the tower is situated in the West Bay area of New Doha, Qatar. Owned by Shaikh Saoud bin Mohamed Al Thani, the building is close to the iconic pyramidal Sheraton Hotel built in the 1980′s. Opened in 2010, Burj Qatar is simple in form but with a unique architectural design. Marks the landscape it features several panoramic lifts.

The skyscraper stands at a height of 232 m if you don’t count its lightning conducting spire which push it up to 235.50 m. Jean Nouvel’s new building is part of a larger scheme commissioned by the National Council of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, which features the construction of a series of buildings and the remodeling of the Corniche. Indeed it shares the same circular plan, which is a sort of constant in Nouvel’s towers with an asymmetrically positioned structural core housing the circulation shafts. A huge atrium is located on the 27th floor at a height of 112m. The diameter of the cylindrical tower is 45m. The adjacent cylindrical building that expands at the bottom and top, is the landmark skyscraper “Tornado Tower”, and has just won the best tall building award in the Middle East and North Africa. Nowadays this area has become the financial and business hub of the city.

Today the new Museum of Islamic Art opens its doors in Doha, Qatar. The museum is placed on its own island and may be will transformed Qatar into a spectacular art destination. Qatar is an Arab emirate in Southwest Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeasterly coast of the larger Arabian Peninsula.

The building seems austere by the standarts of the flashy attention- grabbing forms that have associate with Persian Culf cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Some people said that the museum recalled a time, when architectural expression was both, more earnest and more optmistic. The museum houses manuscripts, textiles, ceramics and other treasures, collected over the last 20 years. There’re origins of its artifacts range from Spain to Egypt to Iran, Iraq, Turkey, India and Central Asia.

The construction of the building is very strong and simple. There’s nothing superfluous.
