Located in Ubud on Bali, Indonesia, the Agung Rai Museum of Art was officially opened by the Indonesian Minister for Education and Culture on 9 June 1996. Set in four acres of beautifully landscape grounds, ARMA is the living center for the visual and performing arts in Ubud. It houses a remarkable private collection of works by Balinese, Javanese and foreign artists. Visitors will enjoy and marvel at the painting exhibits placed either permanently or alternately substituted.

One of the oldest museums in the world

The Kolkata Indian Museum is considered as the largest museum in India. Established on 2 February, 1814 at the cradle of the Asiatic Society Building, it is the earliest museum in the Asia Pacific region. Founded by Dr Nathaniel Wallich (a botanist from Denmark), the museum is included as an Institute of national importance in the seventh schedule of the Constitution of India (It is an independent institution funded by the Government of India). Placed in Italian architectural style building designed by Walter B Grawille, the Indian Museum has over 60 galleries and is divided into six main sectors.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, is one of the most famous museums of India. Founded in the early years of the 20th century by some prominent citizens of Bombay, the Prince of Wales Museum was built to represent the ancient and medieval architectural styles of western India. It is a place for research for Indians and foreigners. Located in the heart of South Mumbai, it is housed in a domed building in the Indo-Saracenic style. Designed by architect George Wittet, it is a major attraction for all visitors and residents of the city.

Astronomy and space science

Located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, The Hong Kong Space Museum is one of the most famous landmarks in Hong Kong. Easily recognized by its unique egg-shaped dome building, it is the only planetarium in the city, built to popularize astronomy and space science. Construction began in 1977 and was completed in 1980. Covering an area of 8,000 square meters, it managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government.

The Hong Kong Museum of Art

With so many tourist attractions in Hong Kong available to visitors, few people travel here to gain a glimpse into China’s rich artistic past, and fewer tend to seek out the handful of waiting Hong Kong museums. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is the main art museum of Hong Kong. Founded in 1962, it was once housed in the City Hall. In 1991, it moved to its present location at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, the Hong Kong Museum of Art is probably the most renowned of the city’s museums.

Chinese culture is a result of the melding and collaboration of many nationalities. During its long history, minority nationalities have created their own colourful cultures. Located in the center of Shanghai in People’s Square, the Shanghai Museum is one of the most famous if not the most famous in China. Demonstrates ancient wisdom and philosophy, the museum has a collection of over 120,000 cultural pieces, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, Ming and Qing-dynasty furniture, jades, ancient coins, paintings, seals, sculptures and China’s national minority art. The museum also has a library collection of more than 200,000 books on Chinese art and history.
