Built in 1958 for the the Brussels World’s Fair (Expo ‘58), it is103 metre(335-foot) tall monument represents a cell of an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times, with vertical body diagonal, with tubes along the 12 edges of the cube and from all 8 vertices to the centre. The Atomium is the visiualization of microscopic molecular structures on a great enlarged scale,which is located next to Heysel metro station in Brussels.

Nine spheres ,made of steel,18 metres in diameter connect via tubes with escalators as long as 35 m. A panoramic view of Brussels is seen from the top sphere. Other spheres have exhibitions. Three upper spheres are closed to the public for safety reasons.
Designed to be the star attraction of the ephemeral World Exhibition of 1958, this 103 metre high building has continued to shine for four decades, although its brilliance gradually faded with the effects of age and corrosion. But the quality and the precision of the work saved it from demolition, an ambitious renovation project has become rality. The Villa

The villa features a traditional thatched roof, coconut pillars, and large folding glass doors to take full advantage of the spectacular view. There are one master bedroom and two guest bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms, a spacious living and dining room with a modern open-plan kitchen, a small 16 ft./4.80 meter long swimming pool, and an open “Bale” (thatched pavilion) with comfortable planter’s chairs next to the pool. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, one of the smaller guest bedroom has a double bed, the other twin beds. Dining
The Restaurant degli Argentieri, based on a splendid 18th-century palazzo, is split into two levels and is the ship’s main dining venue. The restaurant works on an assigned, two-seating basis and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seatings for dinner are geared to European dining customs, and so the late seating is quite late (6:15 PM first seating and 8:45 PM for second—9 PM on formal nights). Dinner menus play up the Italian theme, with a different region of Italy highlighted each night. Vegetarian options are always available and listed on the main menu, while Costa’s “Salute e Benessere” (”health and well being”) menus offer low-fat, low-carbohydrate options. The wine list is with a predominance of Italian wines.

During regular mealtimes, the sprawling Perla del Lago Restaurant serves uninspired buffet fare. The numerous stations offer different dishes, so it pays to explore. (The pizzeria, for example, is a separate station near the rear of the buffet area.) And while soft ice cream machines are scattered throughout, different ones are switched on at different times. During off-hours, choices are slim, although the ship offers round-the-clock food service. The 24-hour room service menu lists a few soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Only suite passengers may order off the full restaurant menus for complete in-suite dining, including hot dishes for breakfast. All passengers may order espresso or cappuccino with their Continental breakfast, however, a nice touch.

Entertainment
At the heart of the ship, the Atrium – Marchera d’Argento Hall – stretches over ten decks. The main lounge, Teatro Osiris, is three decks high and seats 1,170 guests. A new design feature for this series of ships is the location of the show lounge/night club, here the Salone Giardino Isolabella, underneath the main lounge. The main restaurant, Ristorante Degli Argentieri, is two decks high and seats altogether some 1,300 guests.

Fitness & Recreation
Costa Mediterranea’s fitness facility and spa are combined on two decks. The Olympia Gym, tiered so that everyone gets a sea view, has an impressive array of workout machines that allow passengers to set them manually or use a “key card” that prompts the computer to guide them through their workout . Classes are available, although some, such as yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing h. Other fun features include a forward-view whirlpool and separate men’s and women’s steam rooms, saunas, and shower cabinets with multiple heads.There is a two-level health and fitness centre, the Ischia Spa, four swimming pools, one featuring a retractable dome, five whirlpools, a large casino and more than ten themed bars, lounges and public areas for activities and entertainment. In addition, there is a shopping area, a wedding chapel and large facilities for children and youngsters. There is also a library, a conference centre and a cascading water slide.

The two central pools on Deck 9 each have a whirlpool, usually busy, and one has a retractable roof so it can be used in all kinds of weather. A smaller pool, located aft away from the crowds, has both a whirlpool and a bar. A neat waterslide is on top of Deck 11 but has limited hours. On the top deck above the gym is a small jogging track and netted basketball/volleyball area.

Winter is from May through October, summer November through April. Summer is very warm and humid. Air-temperature in winter approx. 25°C, in summer 30+°C. The water is warm and mellow. Temperature year-round approx. 24-25°C. Normally no wetsuit needed, but some days it’s nice with a shorty.
Winter (June to September) is the best season for kiting here as the trades are pretty steady. In summer you can get hurricanes and heaps of changing weather. As the wind here is generated by the trades, it’s pretty stable and predictable. Dominating direction is Southeast. Starts building in the morning, and normally starts decreasing late afternoon. Normal strength 12-15 knots, but also days with more. Good directions for kiting are Southeast to East.How to get there:

There is wind throughout the year in Hurghada, with some of the best in the summer. It is also very popular in winter as it is a good break from the British climate. The original fishing village has now built up into an international holiday resort with many hotels stretching along the coast to the north and south of the town.
Hurghada is one of the best places to learn to kitesurf. There are three bays with the downwind one popular with windsurfers, leaving the two upwind ones with large shallow areas free for kitesurfers. There is plenty of space to practice flying the kite, bodydragging and waterstarting in shallow areas. This extends far enough from the beach to allow 100m runs before getting into deeper water.

The wind in the Red Sea is created by the difference in temperature between the land and sea. In Hurghada this is accelerated by the mountain range and a bit more by Giftun Island offshore. It will generally pick up during the day and can often start early and sometimes blow all day.

In the summer months, from May to Oct, the average wind is around 18 knots with the afternoons sometimes getting up to 25 / 30 (especially in September)! In the winter it is mostly big kite weather (14 – 16’s)..

Hurghada is good for all levels but is especially good for complete beginners or those looking to progress. There is a very high level of instruction on hand here and the shallow flat water of the ’small bay’ is just perfect for training.

The sand bar, about 1km out, is an awesome place to practice for the more advanced riders – clean wind, flat water and a sand bar to take a break or jump….you’ll never want to come in !!

The Magawish Hotel, Hurghada has the best beach in the area for kitesurfing, huge shallow areas for training, dedicated launch areas and a nice sand bank off shore. Nacreous clouds glow brightly with vivid iridescent colours. They are wave clouds and their undulating sheet-like forms reveal the winds and waves of the stratosphere.

Nacreous means pearlescene or pearl-like. These stunning clouds, sometimes called mother-of-pearl clouds, are observed in the Antarctic each Austral spring and fall when upper air temperatures drop low enough for their formation. Nacreous clouds typically occur in the stratosphere, at heights of between 10 and 30 km, where the temperature falls below -80 degrees C. They’re likely composed of ice particles with a liquid coating of nitric acid tri-hydrate, and they appear bright or luminescent because they’re sufficiently high to be illuminated by the Sun, long after local sunset. At higher latitudes, the Sun is never far from the horizon from late spring through early fall. The pastel colors of nacreous clouds are attributable to the process of diffraction.
Nacreous clouds are often observed along the Antarctic Peninsula where mountains create lee-waves in the upper atmosphere. The conditions that allow them to form may persist for several months. On occasion, they’ve been seen as far equatorward as southern England. Stratospheric clouds are associated with ozone depletion since they provide the necessary environment for the chlorine based catalytic photochemistry that destroys ozone at around 1% per day.

Candlelight dinner on the beach. White linen tablecloths, crystal; a most romantic setting for dinner. There are few things more important than great food on vacation. We accomodate every guest. Before you arrive, our chef will contact you by email, and ask you for food preferences, and plan a menu.
Being located on an island, seafood is the fare of the day. Shrimp, Lobster, Crab, Grouper and Snapper are caught by islanders here. We also do vegatarian, as well as other continental fare.
All of our water is from one of two artisan springs located on the property which is potable. We do have bottled water available as well.
Our thatched roof bar, The Palapa, sits out over the clear water, with a sunbathing dock and a swim dock. Beer, mixed drinks, frozen drinks, soft drinks, juices, and snacks are available. Alcoholic beverages are NOT included in the package price.

Roatan has long been a diving destination. The east end has managed to escape the development that is now occurring down island to the west, and as such, sports the best, most pristine coral reefs anywhere in the Bay Islands. Miles of spectacular diving are right out in front of our own private beach. Famous dive sites like Mary’s Place, the Prince Albert Wreck and the Island of Helene can be visited. Also day trips are organized to Pigeon Keys, Barbareta and Morat Islands at a little extra cost.

Roatan is served by several airlines. From the U.S., Continental Airlines from Houston on Saturdays, and TACA from Miami and Houston. From Europe, Iberia out of Milan, Italy. And from the mainland Honduras, TACA, Islena Airlines, Sosa Airlines, and Atlantic Airlines. All mainland carriers have several flights a day to Roatan. American Airlines and Continental Airlines fly daily to San Pedro Sula from Houston and Miami respectively, From there, you can fly a domestic flight to the island for 100-150.00 round trip. It is recommended to make a reservation with the domestic airline. A departure tax is collected at the airport at time of departure.

Patong Beach is a beach on Phuket’s west coast. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket and contains the centre of Phuket’s nightlife and cheap shopping on the island. The beach became popular with western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous large hotels and chain hotels are located in Patong.

Patong Beach is maybe more famous for its nightlife than the 2-kilometer beach that runs the entire length of Patong. Nightlife is centered on two main areas Bangla Road and Paradise Complex, with Bangla Road being predominantly straight and Paradise Complex being predominantly gay. Much mixing of the two scenes occurs due to Phuket Island’s tolerant nature.

On December 26, 2004, Patong Beach along with many other areas along the western coast of Phuket and Thailand were struck by a tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The wave caused a great deal of destruction to the waterfront of the beach although the destruction was not nearly as bad as nearby in Khao Lak. It took probably less than 6 months to rebuild 80% of what was destroyed and 1 year after you could hardly not see any traces of destruction caused by the Tsunami.

Patong Beach – History
Official permanent population is 14797 persons but the real number is probably as high as 60,000 in high season.
1827 Baan Kathu and Baan Patong are small villages without convenient transportation
1898 The Island is organized into five grades of local administration.
1947 The government approves 60,000 THB for a basic road over the hill to Patong
1969 Patong is upgraded to a “sanitation district” and taxes of 20,000 THB a year are collected.
