Built in 1958 for the the Brussels World’s Fair (Expo ‘58), it is103 metre(335-foot) tall monument represents a cell of an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times, with vertical body diagonal, with tubes along the 12 edges of the cube and from all 8 vertices to the centre. The Atomium is the visiualization of microscopic molecular structures on a great enlarged scale,which is located next to Heysel metro station in Brussels.

Nine spheres ,made of steel,18 metres in diameter connect via tubes with escalators as long as 35 m. A panoramic view of Brussels is seen from the top sphere. Other spheres have exhibitions. Three upper spheres are closed to the public for safety reasons.
Designed to be the star attraction of the ephemeral World Exhibition of 1958, this 103 metre high building has continued to shine for four decades, although its brilliance gradually faded with the effects of age and corrosion. But the quality and the precision of the work saved it from demolition, an ambitious renovation project has become rality. The aim was to completely renew the casing of the spheres and to replace the aluminium skin with insulating sandwich panels in mirror polished stainless steel on the outside and galvanised steel on the inside. The facelift also entailed the restoration of the structure, the replacement of all the windows, the lighting and the electricity systems.

After more than a year of renovation work the Atomium has a new face and give visitors a brand new aesthetic experience by taking them on a very special journey through its spheres.Today, the inside of the building glows with an unparalleled sparkle. The one-directional visit through each of the six spheres open to visitors makes the most of the possibilities offered by modern animation techniques. To echo this rejuvenation, the setting of the entire site is currently being developed with in particular the construction of an entrance pavilion at the heart of a pedestrian area. A fascinating and triumphant architectural prowess of the 50s that has once again opened its doors to the general public, the challenge of the Atomium is to retain its vitality. The vitality that endears it to the public.

It is also an ideal starting point for diving the sites at Bangka Island, the Bunaken National Marine Park, the Lembeh Strait, and for visiting the Tangkoko Nature Reserve and the Minahasa Highlands.

The resort features bungalows, each with two rooms and built in the local Minahasa style, with a spacious veranda overlooking the beach and neighbouring islands. Naturally, all this accommodation is equipped with every feature and fixture now internationally expected of a first class resort: comfortable furnishings, bathroom with shower, hot and cold water, air conditioning and ceiling fan, mini bar, complimentary coffee and tea maker, satellite television with international channels, and sports facilities including a swimming pool.

The restaurants and bars are featuring international and Indonesian Cuisine.

From a diver’s perspective, the best aspects of Gangga Island Resort are the scuba diving options it affords us. Nearby are the islands of Bangka and Talise. These offer some of the most beautiful soft coral diving to be found. While large fish are somewhat scarce, you will find fields of pristine hard corals, a variety of reef fishes, and forests of large and colorful soft coral trees, truly a delight to behold.

The blue water and healthy coral reefs were a welcome change after a week of “muck diving” in Lembeh Strait. It is all the more enjoyable to be able to do this quality diving with short boat rides, and the ability to return to the comforts of a top notch dive resort at the end of each day. We encourage you to see and enjoy Gangga for yourself!

The Costa Mediterranea has a unique personality inspired by Italy’s 17th and 18th century palazzi and castles, while the decks are dedicated to mythology in the Mediterranean Sea–a crossroads of cultures and civilizations. The spectacular Maschera d’Argento Atrium spans 10 decks high and features an incredible sculpture of dancers suspended mid-air. This unique Costa fleet boat is reminiscent of an aristocratic Sicilian palace, the two-level Degli Argentieri Restaurant is adorned with exquisite objects d’art and frescos. The interior spaces on board this 86,000 ton Costa fleet ship are truly an expression of an inimitable, unique style.

The Mediterranea’s 12 spacious and panoramic passenger decks offer an impressive array of facilities including 5 restaurants, 4 bars, 3 pools (one with a retractable roof), a theater extending over three decks, a casino, disco, ballroom, conference center, library, and internet cafe. Children and youngsters can enjoy ample sources of entertainment at the Squok Children’s Room and Arcade.

Costa Mediterranea is a near-sister to Carnival Cruise Line’s “Spirit-class” of ships – a sleek, fast, amenity-filled group of highly successful vessels. But any similarity begins – and ends – with their deck plans. Costa’s interior design teams have made every effort to bring a distinctive, crisp and sophisticated look and feel to the Costa Mediterranea. To those achievements, add in the tireless efforts of a genuine, engaging, willing shipboard crew and staff and Costa’s “Cruising Italian Style” becomes reality.

Of the ship’s 1,057 cabins, 678 have balconies. Both standard outside and balcony cabins (210 square feet) feature dressing tables; efficient hair dryers; TVs; and beds convertible from queen to two twins. Many cabins, including 71 of the 212 inside cabins (160 square feet) have a third and fourth bed that pull down from the ceiling. Closet and drawer space is ample for a seven-day cruise. There are outlets for American electrical plugs, though they aren’t always clearly marked. All cabins have a minibar and easy-to-use safe. Bathrooms are compact with showers only. Shampoo (no conditioner) and lotion are provided. Eight accessible rooms span several categories.

The ship’s 58 suites are especially attractive and come in three categories, ranging in size from 352 to 650 square feet (including balcony). All suites have good-sized, granite-tiled bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs and double sinks. The balconies have teak furnishings, including lounge chairs. Passengers in these quarters get a variety of special services: VIP check-in and early disembarkation; butler service; sparkling wine; full-course in-suite dining; complimentary meal at Club Medusa; plus such added amenities as terry robes, slippers, and a daily fruit basket.

Dining
The Restaurant degli Argentieri, based on a splendid 18th-century palazzo, is split into two levels and is the ship’s main dining venue. The restaurant works on an assigned, two-seating basis and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seatings for dinner are geared to European dining customs, and so the late seating is quite late (6:15 PM first seating and 8:45 PM for second—9 PM on formal nights). Dinner menus play up the Italian theme, with a different region of Italy highlighted each night. Vegetarian options are always available and listed on the main menu, while Costa’s “Salute e Benessere” (”health and well being”) menus offer low-fat, low-carbohydrate options. The wine list is with a predominance of Italian wines.

During regular mealtimes, the sprawling Perla del Lago Restaurant serves uninspired buffet fare. The numerous stations offer different dishes, so it pays to explore. (The pizzeria, for example, is a separate station near the rear of the buffet area.) And while soft ice cream machines are scattered throughout, different ones are switched on at different times. During off-hours, choices are slim, although the ship offers round-the-clock food service. The 24-hour room service menu lists a few soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Only suite passengers may order off the full restaurant menus for complete in-suite dining, including hot dishes for breakfast. All passengers may order espresso or cappuccino with their Continental breakfast, however, a nice touch.

Entertainment
At the heart of the ship, the Atrium – Marchera d’Argento Hall – stretches over ten decks. The main lounge, Teatro Osiris, is three decks high and seats 1,170 guests. A new design feature for this series of ships is the location of the show lounge/night club, here the Salone Giardino Isolabella, underneath the main lounge. The main restaurant, Ristorante Degli Argentieri, is two decks high and seats altogether some 1,300 guests.

Fitness & Recreation
Costa Mediterranea’s fitness facility and spa are combined on two decks. The Olympia Gym, tiered so that everyone gets a sea view, has an impressive array of workout machines that allow passengers to set them manually or use a “key card” that prompts the computer to guide them through their workout . Classes are available, although some, such as yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing h. Other fun features include a forward-view whirlpool and separate men’s and women’s steam rooms, saunas, and shower cabinets with multiple heads.There is a two-level health and fitness centre, the Ischia Spa, four swimming pools, one featuring a retractable dome, five whirlpools, a large casino and more than ten themed bars, lounges and public areas for activities and entertainment. In addition, there is a shopping area, a wedding chapel and large facilities for children and youngsters. There is also a library, a conference centre and a cascading water slide.

The two central pools on Deck 9 each have a whirlpool, usually busy, and one has a retractable roof so it can be used in all kinds of weather. A smaller pool, located aft away from the crowds, has both a whirlpool and a bar. A neat waterslide is on top of Deck 11 but has limited hours. On the top deck above the gym is a small jogging track and netted basketball/volleyball area.

Just a five-minute boat ride north of Efate Island in the Vanauatu Island chain, Kakula Island has been called “The Jewel of the South Pacific” for good reason. Its lush 90 acres include white sand beaches, coral reefs and pristine tropical splendor. Protected by neighboring islands, the calm waters surrounding Kakula are excellent for swimming, fishing and snorkeling. Uninhabited and unspoiled, Kakula serves as a breeding ground for sea turtles.

Escape to paradise and discover one of the most beautiful islands in the South Seas – Kakula Island, down from the seawall and see live corals and tropical fish. Water is flat and shallow , very clear and beautiful.
This is a private island so the only place to go is at the very end by the sand spit. The beach is sand, with some lovely shells. Here is plenty of room to launch.

Winter is from May through October, summer November through April. Summer is very warm and humid. Air-temperature in winter approx. 25°C, in summer 30+°C. The water is warm and mellow. Temperature year-round approx. 24-25°C. Normally no wetsuit needed, but some days it’s nice with a shorty.
Winter (June to September) is the best season for kiting here as the trades are pretty steady. In summer you can get hurricanes and heaps of changing weather. As the wind here is generated by the trades, it’s pretty stable and predictable. Dominating direction is Southeast. Starts building in the morning, and normally starts decreasing late afternoon. Normal strength 12-15 knots, but also days with more. Good directions for kiting are Southeast to East.How to get there:
Get to Port-Vila on Efate. Then get to the North of Efate. here you need a boat to get there.

Nightlife:
No nightlife.Only ride!

Tee off on some of the most immaculately presented greens in the country or spend the day relaxing with not a care in the world. Finally, end the day with Chef Albert’s mouth watering cuisine, excellent wine, superb service and the deep comfort of your own villa of luxury.
You only need to travel 90 minutes from Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga to find a little slice of paradise. Nestled in a sun drenched valley and surrounded by forestry is the site of New Zealand’s premier golfing resort and residential community.
Lakes Resort, Pauanui is the result of a single minded focus on the creation of a golf course which would be private and uninterrupted.
Lying amidst the preserved pristine landscape where forest covered hills blend in to some of the most spectacular wetlands seen on the Coromandel peninsular.
An 18-hole international golf course, recreational facilities, swimming pools, tennis courts, health spa, and some of the very best of New Zealand’s lifestyle homes, villas and terraced apartments.Lakes Resort, Pauanui has been the dream of Gary and Angie MacDougall since they purchased this hidden valley back in 1997. At first Gary and Angie had intentions of occupying purely for lifestyle purposes but soon realised the potential of the property could be best suited to that of a high quality golf resort and gated residential community.

The moment you approach the first tee you experience an extraordinary sense of calm. This is your private sanctuary without distraction or intrusion. It was all part of the plan.
This is the regions only private non-equity golf club.
Instead of crowds trees surround you. Here respect for your privacy is a design feature.
The golf course has received high recognition on it’s quality, course design and layout and playing surfaces that Lakes Resort has been accepted into the prestigious International Marketing and Promotional group called The Best of Golf New Zealand. Lakes Resort now stands alongside Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Terrace Downs, Wairakei Resort, Gulf Harbour, Formosa, Clearwater and Millbrook as one of the finest Resort Golf Courses in the country.
Since its completion golfing professionals, players and course evaluators throughout New Zealand have raved about the course’s unique natural design.
This 100 hectare tract borders protected conservation areas and embraces 20 hectares of natural wetlands.
10 kilometres of cart paths meander through the course and over charming stone bridges to link fairways.
Lakes Resort’s championship 6171 meter par 71 layout is definitely a player’s course.
A tribute to its brilliant designers Canadians Sid Puddicombe Associates.
The whole idea was to create a course that can be a formidable test, challenging but not impossible. Inspired by the perfection of nature itself.

Hurghada has been popular with kiters for many years and is one of our most popular destinations and thats beacause of reliable wind, flat water, a good climate all year and great fun.

There is wind throughout the year in Hurghada, with some of the best in the summer. It is also very popular in winter as it is a good break from the British climate. The original fishing village has now built up into an international holiday resort with many hotels stretching along the coast to the north and south of the town.
Hurghada is one of the best places to learn to kitesurf. There are three bays with the downwind one popular with windsurfers, leaving the two upwind ones with large shallow areas free for kitesurfers. There is plenty of space to practice flying the kite, bodydragging and waterstarting in shallow areas. This extends far enough from the beach to allow 100m runs before getting into deeper water.

There is wind throughout the year in Hurghada, with some of the best in the summer. It is also very popular in winter as it is a good break from the British climate.
The wind in the Red Sea is created by the difference in temperature between the land and sea. In Hurghada this is accelerated by the mountain range and a bit more by Giftun Island offshore. It will generally pick up during the day and can often start early and sometimes blow all day.

In the summer months, from May to Oct, the average wind is around 18 knots with the afternoons sometimes getting up to 25 / 30 (especially in September)! In the winter it is mostly big kite weather (14 – 16’s)..

Hurghada is good for all levels but is especially good for complete beginners or those looking to progress. There is a very high level of instruction on hand here and the shallow flat water of the ’small bay’ is just perfect for training.

  The sand bar, about 1km out, is an awesome place to practice for the more advanced riders – clean wind, flat water and a sand bar to take a break or jump….you’ll never want to come in !!

The Magawish Hotel, Hurghada has the best beach in the area for kitesurfing, huge shallow areas for training, dedicated launch areas and a nice sand bank off shore. Other facilities include compressed air for easy pumping of kites, rescue boat, equipment cleaning and storage, kite repair service and a workshop with necessary tools and spare parts. Feedback from clients that have recently travelled to Hurghada and kitesurfed with Colona has been exceptionally good and so we highly recommend this outfit.

Hurghada offers a variety of excursions, tours and day trips to the interior of this fascinating country. Egypt is probably the world’s oldest civilization having emerged from the Nile Valley around 3,100 years ago. The conditions are very good for all levels and the area is large enough to allow both activities without interfering with each otherThere is some nightlife in downtown Hurghada. As well as bars and restaurants, the bazaar is bustling in the evenings. It is also worth checking out which night Papas has live bands.

Nacreous clouds glow brightly with vivid iridescent colours. They are wave clouds and their undulating sheet-like forms reveal the winds and waves of the stratosphere.

Nacreous means pearlescene or pearl-like. These stunning clouds, sometimes called mother-of-pearl clouds, are observed in the Antarctic each Austral spring and fall when upper air temperatures drop low enough for their formation. Nacreous clouds typically occur in the stratosphere, at heights of between 10 and 30 km, where the temperature falls below -80 degrees C. They’re likely composed of ice particles with a liquid coating of nitric acid tri-hydrate, and they appear bright or luminescent because they’re sufficiently high to be illuminated by the Sun, long after local sunset. At higher latitudes, the Sun is never far from the horizon from late spring through early fall. The pastel colors of nacreous clouds are attributable to the process of diffraction.
Nacreous clouds are often observed along the Antarctic Peninsula where mountains create lee-waves in the upper atmosphere. The conditions that allow them to form may persist for several months. On occasion, they’ve been seen as far equatorward as southern England. Stratospheric clouds are associated with ozone depletion since they provide the necessary environment for the chlorine based catalytic photochemistry that destroys ozone at around 1% per day.

Roatan’s most exclusive boutique resort, Royal Playa is just what you were looking for… a Paradise where nobody can find you. The location is in historic Port Royal, where the island remains pristine. No roads, no rush, only the sound of the breeze and ocean. Surrounded by the National Reserve lands containing the tallest mountains on the island, privacy is assured. Access is by boat over the beautiful reef that runs for miles in front of our own private beach.
Royal Playa is…crystal clear, coral reef filled waters for diving or snorkeling… a beautiful white sand beach with palms… hikes to the top of the tallest mountain on the island… a climb up a jungle valley filled with ferns… a kayak ride through the clear blue Caribbean water… a swim out to the uninhabited islands off our beach… relaxing in your hammock and experiencing the greatest afternoon naps, ever!

Its intimate atmosphere is populated by only five beach front cabanas spread over 12 acres. Each cabana is two stories, 840 square feet and roofed in bay palm leaf. The natural element is reflected in all aspects of the architecture as natural materials were used in the crafting of the buildings. Each cabana has a large bathroom that includes a large open shower, flush toilet, and unique sink. All baths have modern function with tropical charm. The floors are covered in beautiful old spanish tile.
Each cabana is set among a tropical landscape that includes coconuts, mango, craboo, breadfruit, avacado, coco plum, cassava, pineapple, cashew, almond, orange, lime, and grapefruit trees. They are cool, inviting, beautiful and unique.

Candlelight dinner on the beach. White linen tablecloths, crystal; a most romantic setting for dinner. There are few things more important than great food on vacation. We accomodate every guest. Before you arrive, our chef will contact you by email, and ask you for food preferences, and plan a menu.
Being located on an island, seafood is the fare of the day. Shrimp, Lobster, Crab, Grouper and Snapper are caught by islanders here. We also do vegatarian, as well as other continental fare.
All of our water is from one of two artisan springs located on the property which is potable. We do have bottled water available as well.
Our thatched roof bar, The Palapa, sits out over the clear water, with a sunbathing dock and a swim dock. Beer, mixed drinks, frozen drinks, soft drinks, juices, and snacks are available. Alcoholic beverages are NOT included in the package price.

There are plenty of activity options to choose from if diving is not on your daily agenda:

* Snorkeling
* Kayaking
* Hiking
* Shopping
* Remote diving day charters
* Horse back riding
* River rafting
* Fishing
* Auto rental
* Mangrove tours
* Land tours
* Sailing charter

Roatan has long been a diving destination. The east end has managed to escape the development that is now occurring down island to the west, and as such, sports the best, most pristine coral reefs anywhere in the Bay Islands. Miles of spectacular diving are right out in front of our own private beach. Famous dive sites like Mary’s Place, the Prince Albert Wreck and the Island of Helene can be visited. Also day trips are organized to Pigeon Keys, Barbareta and Morat Islands at a little extra cost.

Roatan is served by several airlines. From the U.S., Continental Airlines from Houston on Saturdays, and TACA from Miami and Houston. From Europe, Iberia out of Milan, Italy. And from the mainland Honduras, TACA, Islena Airlines, Sosa Airlines, and Atlantic Airlines. All mainland carriers have several flights a day to Roatan. American Airlines and Continental Airlines fly daily to San Pedro Sula from Houston and Miami respectively, From there, you can fly a domestic flight to the island for 100-150.00 round trip. It is recommended to make a reservation with the domestic airline. A departure tax is collected at the airport at time of departure.

Patong Beach is a beach on Phuket’s west coast. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket and contains the centre of Phuket’s nightlife and cheap shopping on the island. The beach became popular with western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous large hotels and chain hotels are located in Patong.

Patong Beach is maybe more famous for its nightlife than the 2-kilometer beach that runs the entire length of Patong. Nightlife is centered on two main areas Bangla Road and Paradise Complex, with Bangla Road being predominantly straight and Paradise Complex being predominantly gay. Much mixing of the two scenes occurs due to Phuket Island’s tolerant nature.

On December 26, 2004, Patong Beach along with many other areas along the western coast of Phuket and Thailand were struck by a tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The wave caused a great deal of destruction to the waterfront of the beach although the destruction was not nearly as bad as nearby in Khao Lak. It took probably less than 6 months to rebuild 80% of what was destroyed and 1 year after you could hardly not see any traces of destruction caused by the Tsunami.

Patong Beach – History
Official permanent population is 14797 persons but the real number is probably as high as 60,000 in high season.
1827 Baan Kathu and Baan Patong are small villages without convenient transportation
1898 The Island is organized into five grades of local administration.
1947 The government approves 60,000 THB for a basic road over the hill to Patong
1969 Patong is upgraded to a “sanitation district” and taxes of 20,000 THB a year are collected.
1976 A sealed road is built to Patong.
1979 Electricity arrives
1994 Patong sanitation district is upgraded to a municipally
2004 Patong was hit by the Asian Tsunami 26 December
2005 Recovery year, tourism back to 80% at end of the year. Opening of Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise, Thanon Rat-U-Thit 200P (south end).
2006 Jungceylon, Patong’s first full-fledged modern air-con shopping mall, complete with 200 shops, integrated hotel, etc. Still under construction and the opening has been postponed several times, but will probably launch some time in end of 2006.
