This ribbon-like construction is the roof to a unique hotel in Alava, Spain. Hotel Marqués De Riscal was designed by renowned architect, Frank O. Gehry, in an attempt to redefine the traditional image of winery regions in Spain. The hotel/winery/tasting house boasts 43 modern suites, all with wireless internet, LCD TV’s, marble bathrooms, a fine restaurant, a tourist centre and is well renown in the area for its remarkably unique architecture which is most impressive from the rear angle of the building.
Designed by renowned architect Frank O. Gehry, that hotel is his second masterpiece in Spain after driving Bilbao’s urban revival with the Guggenheim Museum.

Located in the heart of the Rioja wine region, taht will be the perfect place for a relaxing break or small meeting. 43 modern, comfortable suites feature a modern, comfortable atmosphere and unique design by Frank O. Gehry. All are equipped with luxuries such as LCD TV, CD player, Coffee/Tea Maker, Marble Bathrooms and High Speed Internet Access (ADSL and wireless). Enjoy the views of the vineyards and the town of Elciego, while sitting in the bay windows.

The main restaurant is set to become one of Spain’s leading centers for fine gastronomy, combining traditional Rioja cuisine with modern influences by the well-known Echaurren Restaurant (1 Michelin star). Furthermore, the hotel will offer a wine bar in a more informal setting, a rooftop bar and lounge with panoramic views and open fireplace, a wine tasting corner, cooking school, and an ancient wine cellar, which was converted to a banqueting space.
The Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spa will be the backbone of the leisure facilities, offering an indoor swimming pool, hammam, fitness, and a wide variety of massages and treatments featuring “wine therapy.” All products are made using the best that grapes have to offer, designed exclusively for Caudalie Vinothérapie.
Guests will also have access to the Marqués de Riscal vineyards, the Wine Museum & Shop, and the state-of-the-art process and elaboration center.
Additional leisure activities in the area include two golf courses within 35 kilometers, tours of the surrounding nature and hills by foot, bike, or horse, and “Ruta de Vino,” an established tour which explores the Rioja wine region by car. If visiting during the winter months, the Valdezcarray ski resort is only 50 kilometers away.

This group of nine remote islands located 95 km northwest of Phuket was designated as a national park in 1982. The Similan Islands are some the worlds most beautiful and unspoiled islands and together with the splendor of the rich and varied marine life, and stunning coral reefs they offer a world class underwater paradise for scuba divers. elow the surface the Similans offer a wide variety of underwater scenery and marine life. You can draw a line roughly down the middle of each island in the chain separating them into two parts, with each offering totally different diving environments. On the western side of the islands, huge granite boulders are stacked on top of one another creating magnificent archways, and plunging drop-offs. Most of these granite boulders are so completely covered in colorful soft corals that the rock is no longer visible.

Diving on the eastern side of the islands can give you the impression of diving in another part of the world. Here hard coral gardens gradually slope down to approximately 30-40 meters where sand takes over as the water depth increases. Massive schools of colorful tropical fish are attracted to the nutrient rich water that swirls around these islands. Sightings of large fish are rather rare in these waters but you may occasionally encounter leopard sharks and even whale sharks here. There are more than 20 documented dive sites in the Similan Islands, many of which have developed there, own international reputation. Christmas Point, on Island #9, Ko Bangru: is famous for a series of dramatic archways for divers to swim through while they swim with the schools Blue Fin Trevally, and Jack Tuna. Fantasy Reef, on Island #8, Ko Similan: is a popular site to exploring the massive underwater rock formations, and for a likely encounter with some of the many species of rays that live there. Elephant Head, on Island #8, Koh Similan: is probably the most famous dive in the group, the site is named after an unusually shaped group of rocks that jut out of the water just to the southwest of Koh Similan.

The Similan Islands are consistently ranked as one of the top ten dive sites in the world, and there is good reason to believe they will remain that way for future generations. The Thai Government can be justly proud of their efforts to preserve and protect this group of pristine islands. In one effort the Fishing Dept placed mooring buoys in the most popular anchorage’s allowing visiting boats to tie up rather then dropping an anchor and risk damaging the fragile reef. It is easy to applaud all efforts to preserve the wild, unspoiled beaches, magnificent coral reefs, and the turquoise blue water of this special area.

Forget city spas – head to Therme Spa in Switzerland for the real thing. The thermal spring is a national Swiss landmark built from 60,000 stone slabs of Valser quarzite.
The bath house is constructed from the local stone, gneisis, formed from the same heat that warms the water of the baths. The spa is a popular destination that draws Swiss and international tourists with the promise of six thermal pools (which contains calcium, sulpher, hydrogen and iron) full of minerals thought to heal and restore the skin and the body

With the only thermal spring in Graubünden, the Therme Spa is a stunning landmark for you to luxuriate and rediscover the ancient benefits of bathing in. The combinations of light and shade, open and enclosed spaces and linear elements make for a highly sensuous and restorative experience. Below the pool deck is a wellness centre where you can have treatments focusing on relaxation and pampering.

The thermal spa, formally opened in December 1996 and already listed by the Canton Graubünden as a protected building in 1998, is a self-willed construction set into the mountain slope. It replaced the bathing facilities of the hydro hotel (built between 1962 and 1970) which were too cramped and in need of repair. The new separate spa building is built in Valser gneiss. Stone by stone. A massive element set in to the gradient of the slope and dovetailed with the flank of the mountain.

The great slabs of the roof are grassed over sections of flower studded alpine meadow. That project could be called an extreme achievment of architecture – a combination of natural resources and human intelligence.

You cannot afford to visit Berlin and miss that spot. Forget about everything else and go there. Thit is a place of SPIRIT…and once you enter in the dirty ruined building it becomes difficult to leave. The Kunsthaus Tacheles is an art center and nightclub that was opened in East Berlin after the Berlin Wall came down in the spring of 1990. Tacheles is a large (9000 square meter) building on Oranienburger Straße in the district known as Mitte. The exterior of the building was damaged from shelling in World War II, and much of the damage was never repaired. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals are painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures are featured inside.

Actually it is useless to describe it. Tacheles is a place for deconstruction of reality, a place where all aspects of ART can be felt – you can wander through the floors, entering in different artists ateliers (where most of them actually live) visit all kind of exhibitions or simply go to one of the cafes and have a nice chat with interesting people, smoke some weed or do whatever you want…
