Alila Cha-Am is a tropical paradise situated in the charming coastal town of Cha-Am, on the north west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. This luxurious beachside resort is designed to be a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle destination. From the grand entrance stairway to the rooftop reflecting pool, every detail is understated yet unforgettable.
Originally a fishing village, Cha-Am offers a relaxed pace of life, and a more tranquil atmosphere than neighbouring Hua Hin beach. Its main appeal is its clean, white sand beach, which is thought to be the longest in Thailand, and which is where you will find a choice of excellent seafood restaurants.

Just to the north of the Gulf of Thailand is situated the small rocky island of Ko Si Chang. The island may be is not the best of the Thai islands, but it has two huge advantages. It is little known, even by Thais, and it is the closest place you can reach from Bangkok if you need sea and sand for a few days. A 45-minute ferry journey from the coastal town of Sri Racha brings you to the island’s one small town dominated by a brightly painted Chinese temple, reached by a long flight of steep steps. Photo by: spacehelmetboy

The best way to explore the island is to hire a motor bike called samlor. Your driver will tour the island with you, waiting while you visit the various sights, and even allow you a few hours at the island’s best beach. The main sight there is Rama V’s palace and grounds. The gardens are lovely, linked ponds are shaded by ancient frangipani trees, and stone steps lead to balustraded terraces. Four wooden villas, fronting the sea, house various displays and historic photographs. Photo by: stefangrudza

There are several places in which to spend your break, and plenty of places in which to eat scrumptious fresh seafood. The main beach is rather small, but the water is turquoise in colour, clear as glass and fabulous for swimming. Tourists are surprisingly few, most just come for the day, and the island is calm and quiet – just what you need if you’ve been in Bangkok for a while. Photo by: Gabypacu

When to go: November to April for the least rain. Population: 4,500. How to get there: By ferry from Sri Racha. You should know: Ko Si Chang and Sri Racha are close to a deep-sea port and you will see huge numbers of barges waiting to unload you as you sit on the ferry. Don’t be put off, they don’t affect the island or the water around. Photo by: araeoflight1410

Ko Samet in the Gulf of Thailand, some 200 km south east of Bangkok is a favorite holiday island for both Thais and foreigners alike. A mere 30-minute boat trip from the mainland, Ko Samet is quite easily reached from Bangkok, and its famous white powder sand beaches have made it popular with everyone – families, backpackers, package holiday, tourists, even working girls from Pattaya in need of a rest. Declared a National Park in 1981, the island should have been protected from development, but in reality all the accessible beaches around this 6 km long island have resorts, beach bungalow, operations, restaurants and bars lining the sand. Outside the park, the only village, Na Dan, where the boats arrive, is where most of the population live. Photo by: travellers_in_speedos

The island’s interior is quite different – mountainous and covered with dense rainforest, it shelters gibbon, long tailed macaques, monitor lizards, fruit bats, hornbills and many gorgeous butterflies. There are a few tracks cross the central ridge from east to west, but otherwise this at least is left in its natural state. It’s worth trekking across though, for great cliff-top views and of course, magnificent sunset. Photo by: Aung@

Hat Sai Kaew, or Diamond Beach, is the closest beach to the ferry pier, and at 780m long, is an amazing swathe of sand. Soft and white, its high silicon content makes it squeak underfoot and obviously, it is extremely popular. If you walk south you will find a mermaid statue, placed there in recognition of the 19th century epic poem written by one of Thailand’s greatest poets, Santhorn Phu, and partly set on Ko Samet. The island is perfect for swimming, snorkeling and fishing off. Watch a fire show at Ao Phai beach. Photo by: Chris Kuo

When to go: Pleasant at almost any time of year. September and October bring the most rain. Population: 1,000 (2005 estimate). How to get there: By road to Ban Phe, then boat to Ko Samet.

Hua Hin is the oldest beach resort of Thailand.
If you enjoy walks through the quiet winding streets of a friendly coastal village, sampling delicious seafood in restaurants overlooking the brightly lit fishing boats on the Gulf of Thailand or a round of golf on one of the several international standard links, Hua Hin could very well be what you’re looking for.

In Hua Hin you can visit the Majestic Creek Country Club and Beach Resort – The inland road to the club passes through rural Thailand with small farms producing pineapples, sugarcane, bananas and mangoes. The journey is interesting, and it becomes more scenic as the road approaches to the golf resort, which lies beneath the natural-lying mountains to the west of Hua Hin.

You can ride horses and buggy around the temples and beach of Khao Takiab Bay, just 10 minutes south of Hua Hin town centre. Horse Riding is available on the beach.
In Hua Hin is famous also the Elephant Polo.

If you want real relaxation you must visit the Khao Takiab Bay and Hua Hin spas. People in Hua Hin like Fishing trips. Fishing Boat charters from Takiab Fishing Village in Hua Hin. Offshore fishing and boat rides. Fishing is available off Koh Singto.

The white sand goes for miles from the Sofitel at the end of Damnoenkasem Rd. At the main beach there are umbrellas for lounging and vendors will satisfy your needs for drinks and snacks, and even pony rides, jet skis and a Thai traditional massage. Many beach front hotels have concessions for wind surfing and sailing needs and power boats can be hired. Walks down the beach will take you to temples and fishing villages.

Though the beaches and swimming pools are always beckoning, the Hua Hin area also has shopping, temples, waterfalls, caves, quaint neighborhoods and historical sites that will create memories for all members of the family. A leisurely drive though the countryside, where one can see rice paddies and pineapple plantations, children playing in the canals, and the beautiful scenery of Prachuapkirikhan and Petchburi provinces is also a must.

Chiang Mai is a beautiful city situated in northern Thailand. This magical place is sitted between succulent mountains and it is a very modern city as well!Fortunately there’s no cosmopolitan nature as Bangkok. Chiang Mai is an important centre for handcrafted goods, umbrellas, jewelry and woodcarving.

The city itself lies on Ping River and it’s divided into 4 wards: Nakhon Ping, Srivijaya, Mengrai and Kavila. The first three wards are on the west bank, whilst Kavila is situated on the east shore of the river.

A long time ago Chaing Mai was the capital of the Lanna kingdom. So for that reason its temples and other historic sites have a unique look with starker lines and darker woods. It’ll be spiritual to visit Wat Chiang Man, which is the city’s oldest temple built in the late 13 century.

For another wonderful experience stroll along the Ping River, where university students and young professionals gather at a strip of rollicking restaurants that serve modern Thai, Japanese and Western food. Try the geng som, a soup flavored with a sour Thai orange, and the poo phat pong kari, crab stir-fried with yellow curry. Dinner for two people costs about 1,000 baht. If you can get up early it’s worthy to go on a mornin hike on Doi Suthep, which is the 5,498-foot peak that overlooks the city.

Chiang Mai has become a design laboratory, with foreign and Thai designers blending traditional styles with minimalist lines. Thai art students wander the street in packs, occasionally whipping out sketchpads. In recent years, many of Thailand’s best-known artists have moved to Chiang Mai from Bangkok.

As well as with its cooler climate and rugged terrain, Chiang Mai has become the hub for adventure sports, including rafting, trekking and mountain biking.

The city has new construction and growing suburbs, but central Bangkok is all columns of glass and steel, shopping centres and hotels. Honesty Bangkok is not particulary ancient capital, but a cool mix of modern and traditional. The city has highly developed infrastructure, fine public transport systems and perhaps many visitors are disappointed that the city is less mysterious, less ”Asian” than they might have expected.

Bangkok has a concentration of luxury hotels unrivaled in the region and visitors can find anything from the most basic $3 cell to a ritzy high-rise suite. Whatever your budget, lodging is affordable and Bangkok is a good place to splurge for far more comforts than the same prices afford you back home. And food? They’ve got it all in the Thai capital: fine dining on par with any large city as well as great atmospheric local joints.

As well as you can wander in a day from busy, luxury shopping districts to quiet temple compounds, cacophonous markets to tiny alleyways. Get lost and explore. Even in a city choked by traffic, pollution and acres of concrete, you can find moments of serenity and are sure to experience a warm welcome from kind Thai folks.

Seventy kilometers south west of Bangkok, Thailand, the Mae Klong River spreads into a sprawling delta before reaching the Gulf of Thailand. Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital is one of the world’s most exotic and colorful cities – a unique blend of the traditional and ultra-modern. This market is about two hours southwest of Bangkok. You can book a tour through your hotel which will take in both this market and the cultural shows at the Rose Garden. It is also possible to go there by local bus.

This is the best know destination in Rachaburi where timeless lifestyle of native Thai people can be observed along the canals. The Floating Market, approximately 400 meters from the Damonen Saduak District Office, operates every morning till noon. Boats can be hired for observing close-up canal side villages and boat vendors. The most famous of the floating markets is Damnoen Saduak, about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. This buzzing market is at its best in the early morning before the crowds arrive and the heat of the day builds up.
Just keep in mind that even when bargaining, you will typically pay a good price but think of the experience as entertainment. You can also stay on the banks to bargain if you like. Either way, you will be in for a real treat, taking home a cherished memory of Thailand’s culture. But The culture is not common in Thailand, a particularly such shopping singular and singular. They are selling everything. You can have Thai style snack or breakfast on your boat. Fruits, snacks, hats, T-shirts, vegetables, silk dress, toys, you try anything, its there.
Some of the bridges across the canals in this residential area were very basic. A bamboo pole that was the “path” and another bamboo pole suspended higher up so you have something to hold on to for balance. It looked pretty precarious. There are several more similar markets in the same area, and other parts of the country many of which you can access via organized tours.

Life along the sides of the Floating Market is simply intriguing, and the sight is unforgettable. One could only hope to revisit, and that Damnern saduak would always stay as attractive as today. So much to see and do!
