Voted the World’s Leading Boutique Hotel for the last six consecutive years

Located in an excusive residential area in Sandhurst, the Saxon Boutique Hotel was once home to the former President of South Africa - Nelson Mandela. Situated close proximity to the central business district and the two major shopping areas in Johannesburg, the hotel has been designed to capture the natural environment of lush landscape gardens that surround it. Set on 10 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, the Saxon is a haven of tranquility and a peaceful escape from the bustle of city life. Nelson Mandela used this serene setting of Saxon to edit his autobiography “The Long Walk to Freedom”.

There are 24 suites in the Saxon main hotel and three Villas, adding an additional 29 suites. All suites incorporate a strong element of African art, latticed shutters covering large bay windows, looking onto the tranquil gardens or pool area. Standard amenities in the rooms include air-conditioning, free newspapers, satellite television service, kitchens with microwaves, radios, mini bars, safe and private baths. Workstations fitted with direct-dial telephone service, fax and ISDN lines provide each guest with an incomparable experience in business-orientated hospitality.

One of the design themes is the extensive use of water. The central point of the water theme is the magnificent 920 sq m swimming pool. There is also a spa and a hair studio which provide complete beauty and health treatments. Aside from relaxing by the pool, working out in the gym or enjoying one of the many indulgent massages at the hotel, Johannesburg has plenty on offer whether it be visiting Nelson Mandela’s original home, museums and art galleries or other attractions such as the zoo and Gold Reef City.
