One of the best and unique beaches own in Indonesia

Belitung is an island in South East Asia, a part of Nation archipelago situated on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia in the Java Sea. It was in the possession of the British from 1812 until the British ceded control of the island to the Dutch in the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824. On November 21st, 2000, Belitung Island has been approved to become the 31st province of Indonesia separated from South Sumatra.

Belitung is an island with beautiful beaches, the unique landscape with its purely white sand, and the crystal clear seawater. The mainly tourist destinations are beaches and islets. The beaches are Tanjung Tinggi Beach and Tanjung Kelayang Beach which both have blue clear water, sand and rocky beaches. This beautiful nature is also accompanied by hundreds of small islets, which add the beautiful tourism area in Belitung Island. The islets are Batu Berlayar Island which full of granite, Pasir Island which is made of sand and submerged during high tide, Burung Island, Lengkuas Island which is a home of 129-year-old lighthouse and a good place for snorkeling, Babi Island and Kelayang Islet.

Belitung is a short forty five minute flight from Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta and a three hour trip from Bali or Singapore. Most major international carriers fly to Jakarta or Bali. It is easier to get to Belitung from Jakarta but not difficult from Bali. As with any tropical climate, air temperature during the day between 28 – 31ºC and at night between 24 – 26 ºC, for most of the year. In the period October to April, rainfall intensity will be higher and the time is not a good time to visit, because the beach is usually less attractive at the time of heavy rain. The rest, in April to October is the right time, and you can enjoy the sunshine pouring for 12 hours a day.
