The work of human creative genius

 

The Hotel Tassel is an elegant urban house with facade defined around centered, stacked oriel bay windows and balcony. Designed by Victor Horta – the architect to initiate the Art Nouveau style, the building was built for the Belgian scientist and Professor Emile Tassel. Because of Horta’s highly innovative plan, the old urban house was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. This building is generally considered as the first Art Nouveau building in Brussels.

Russian Story


Smolny Convent is a Baroque ensemble of buildings situated on the curve of the left bank of the River Neva, in the city St. Petersburg, Russia. The complex’ name means “Holy Virgin Convent of the Resurrection”. It was built at the behest of Empress Elizabeth I in the years 1748. Designed by the Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the Smolny Convent consists of a cathedral and a complex of buildings surrounding it.

Ottoman Heritage

A district of Karabük Province, Turkey, Safranbolu is a typical Anatolian ancient city that has survived to the present day. It was described by Homer in his epic poem, The Iliad and its known history dates back to 3000 BC. From the 13th century to the advent of the railway in the early 20th century, Safranbolu was an important caravan station on the main East–West trade route. The caravan trade was for centuries the main commercial link between the Orient and Europe. Safranbolu brings history to life through its well-preserved Ottoman era architecture. It was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.

The ancient city of Pingyao

 

Located in central Shanxi Province, the city was founded in the 14th century. This tiny city was the main banking center in China during the Qing Dynasty in 19th century. There is no charming landscape. No green mountain or clear waters. But Ping Yao is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Han Chinese city. Pingyao was added to the UNESCO‘s World Heritage List on December 31st, 1997.

San Cristobal de La Laguna

La Laguna in short, is a city in the northern part of the island of Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. In Spanish ‘The Lagoon”, the city is third-most populous city of the archipelago and second-most populous city of the island. It was founded more than five centuries ago some time between 1496 and 1497 by Alonso Fernandez de Lugo. It was the main cultural centre and several teaching institutions were established like Canary Islands University.

Tanzania religious tourism


Kilwa is an Islamic community on an island off the coast of East Africa, in present day Tanzania. It was the principal of about thirty-five ports of trade on the Indian Ocean, trading gold, ivory, iron and coconuts from southern Africa during the 11th through 16th centuries AD. The Great Mosque of Kilwa is the earliest remaining mosque structure on the East African coast. It was likely founded in the tenth century, but the two major stages of construction date to the eleventh or twelfth and thirteenth century, respectively. The mosque was built in two stages – the small, northern prayer hall, in the 11th century, and the southern enlargement in the 14th century.
