Within the 8000km of the Brazilian coast, Arraial d’Ajuda is a little village located on the top of impressive colourful cliffs in the state Bahia, Brazil. With endless perfect sandy beaches, sweet water, sun all year round and huge variety of entertainments, the region is certainly the hottest one. In Arraial d’Ajuda you have the choice between eight breathtaking beaches, nearly 18 km in length. Some of them protected by reefs, forming natural swimming pools at low tide, others still preserved and semi deserted.

Fifteen years ago, Arraial was a poor fishing village removed from the world. Than it became a hidden destination of hippies and backpackers that used to go to Arraial looking for peace, freedom and cheap tourism. The village was discovered in the ’70 by Brazilian Hippies in search for a place to escape the local military regime. The mix of locals, native Indians, hippies, tourists transformed Arraial d’Ajuda into a small international village and therefore call it “the corner place of the world”. This charming small village hosts preserved typical architecture and surrounding native nature since its birth in 1549.

Today, if you are looking for fun and party, this is the place you must go. The village of Arraial d’Ajuda offers many options to people who enjoy night life. In the night there are lots of parties that start after midnight until the morning. Mucugê is a charming street where most of the restaurants, bars, shops and hotels are located and where the nightlife is the most intense. It is really lively in the evenings, specially during the summer vacations (January and February).

For those who like day time, there are many boat trips and deserted beaches to explore. You can enjoy walks on the beaches near the village. The surroundings are perfect for long walks in the sand and to discover nature’s beauty. There are lots of nearby interesting villages to visit. Visit the Indian reserve – Trancoso and learn about their culture, music and other aspects of Indian life. Visit the church in Porto Seguro. Built in 1549, this is the first church in Brazil was built. Travelers can also try Capoeira lessons, Zouk lessons and Afro dance.
