The Lot et Garonne is know as the ‘ market garden of France’ and a such offers a wealth of fresh, local produce. Select the freshest fruit and vegetables at the Saturday market in Montaigu-du-Quercy, or enjoy a gastronomic meal at one of the many local restaurants, accompanied by a glass or two of Cotes-de-Duras, known in France as the smallest of all the great wine areas. In the evenings many local villages hold ‘ night markets’ ; select your food from the local stalls and the vendor will cook it for you on the spot. Enjoy your meal with a bottle of wine at the tables provided, surrounded by music and festivities; a communal picnic.
