Studio Meda has won the Architecture Foundation competition to design a portable, secure cycle parking solution to serve the Bankside area of of Southwark, London. The competition forms part of the EU-funded Smart Green Business project to improve local firms’ environmental performance.
The designers will create a £10,000 prototype bike shed. The winning design includes horizontal railings for better parking support as well as optional storage lockers. The first prototype should be completed this May, and we look forward to seeing its implementation for bicycle commuters in Bankside.
