MAK Gallery
This is the MAK Center for Art and Architecture Los Angeles covering above five garage studios retained from an existing Schindler design. This type of gallery is very interesting due the fact that occupying artists in the residence produce works at the ground level, and the results of their efforts are displayed in the newly cantilevered pavilion which opens onto the courtyard below.

The MAK Gallery serves as a “black box” which is cantilevered on top of an existing garage structure which has been renovated to serve as studios for the visiting artists in residence. These studios, creating a large, flexible gathering space serving a variety of functions. A large multi-stacking sliding door system, constructed from aluminum frames and structured polycarbonate panels. These sliding doors, when are opened, they transform the interior space into an elevated outdoor room looking into a courtyard and roof terraces which are a prominent part of the original architectural strategy for the property.

The gallery also acts as a dance floor, film theatre and dining room. Location: at the rear of a standard residential lot in Los Angeles, United States.
