The Solaire Building
The Solaire is located in Manhattan‘s most desirable waterfront neighbourhood – Battery Park City. Completed in 2003, it is described as an “environmentally-progressive residential tower”. It was chosen in 2004 as a “Top Ten Green Award” by the American Institute of Architects.

It was the first building designed to meet the new environmental guidelines instituted in 2000 by the Battery Park City Authority. Designed to consume 35% less energy, the building includes rooftop gardens and a vegetated roof that corresponds to 57% of the site area. The gardens contain bamboo, perennials and other self-sustaining shrubs.
