The Emirates Stadium
Designed by HOK Sport (which won architect of the year in 2006 for the stadium design), the Emirates is the current home of Arsenal FC. The stadium is located in the North of London, app. 7.5 km from the city centre. The stadium has an all seated capacity of 60,355, making it the second largest football club stadium in England and overall the fifth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom.
After a century at nearby Highbury, Arsenal moved to this larger stadium in 2006. The stadium’s construction cost was £430 million, and it’s one of the nicest stadiums in the United Kingdom. It was officially opened on 26 October 2006 by Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
