One of the oldest mosques in Singapore
Situated in the district of Kampong Glam, the Sultan Mosque considered one of the most important mosques in Singapore. Built in 1928, the mosque was designed by Denis Santry. A British architect designed the Mosque in arabesque style with domes, minarets and balustrades. The Sultan Mosque was officially declared a national monument on 14 March 1975.
A special feature of the Mosque is the springing of domes from bases formed of many glass bottles. With its massive golden dome and huge prayer hall, the Sultan Mosque is one of most impressive religious buildings in Singapore.
