The Diablo Lake

Diablo Dam was once the world’s tallest dam at 389 feet, and it was through this that Diablo Lake was formed. Located in the Northern Cascade Range, Newhalem, Washington, the lake is so wonderful. It is a recreation area that is open all year to fishing and boating.

Fine glacier sediment feeds into the lake through creeks give the water its brilliant turquoise color.  Hiking is a popular thing to do around Diablo Lake. A 28 mile hiking route through the park into the Stehekin Valley follows Thunder Creek to Park Creek Pass.
