Ordrupgaard

Ordrupgaard is located in a beautiful park close to “Dyrehaven” just outside of Copenhagen. The park is very diverse and includes a small beech wood, a baroque-inspired rose garden and a meadow area. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch and have a picnic in the park, weather permitting – as long as you leave the park area is the same state as you found it!

The museum has one of the finest collections of French impressionism in Northern Europe, including works by Degas, Renoirs, Monet, Pissarro and Sisley, as well as other French artists such as Delacroix, Corot, Gauguin and Matisse. The permanent exhibition also features Danish works from 19th and early 20th centuries with artists such as Vilhelm Hammershoj and L.A. Ring. A new annex designed by the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid houses the changing exhibitions and parts of permanent collections. In 2008 the home of furniture architect Finn Juhl became a part of the Museum.

The museum also offer black and white or colour photographs in high resolution of all the works in the museum’s collection. They may be ordered for reproduction or research purposes.

You can enjoy a meal or merely a cup of coffee in the museum cafe that is located in the new building. The cafe has panorama windows overlooking the park. In the summer, it is also possible to sit outside. Beautiful postcards, posters, art books and catalogues are sold in the ticket sale shop.

Getting there: Ordrupgaard is located just over 8 km. from the centre of Copenhagen. There is a car park in the park. By train: Take the S-train to Klampenborg or Lyngby Station, and from there take bus 388 to Vilvordevej. It is a 2-minute walk from the bus stop to the museum. Groups of more than eight cannot join the public tours but are requested to book their own private tour.
