Welcome to San Gimignano

It is a small walled medieval town in Siena Province, 56 km south of Florence. Rises on a hill on 334m high, San Gimignano is visible from the bends of the highway. It is famous for its medieval architecture, especially its remarkable towers but also the fabulous frescoes and other works of 14th- and 15th-century Italian art to be seen here.

Walking through the heart of the old city means plunging into the Middle Ages. The museum San Gimignano offers a massive reconstruction of the city as it existed more than seven hundred years ago. The exhibit includes 800 accurately handcrafted structures, 72 towers, street scenes, and figurines. San Gimignano is classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO and more than three million visit the town annually.
