Tinerhir
The charming town of Tinerhir is situated in the Atlas Mountains of eastern Morocco. It is a typical Moroccan town, with mazes of narrow streets and alleyways that run between the houses made mainly from mud. With friendly and hospitable inhabitants and a number of places of interest to visit, Tinerhir is proving to be a popular tourist destination.
The road from Tinerhir passes yellowish Berber villages, until 15km along high walls of pink and grey rock close in around the road. The old Jewish quarters have distinctive architecture, different from the rest of the town. One of the biggest attractions is that visitors can watch the process of carpet making. The carpet makers are happy to answer questions – even if you don’t buy one.
