We represent you Conch Shell House located on the sunny Island Mujeres, Mexico. Built from more than 4000 conch shells, the Conch Shell House is one of island’s most unique landmarks. The architect and owner of the house is a well-known Mexican artist Octavio Ocampo. Surrounded by Caribbean Ocean it gives you a unique opportunity to experience what it’s like living in a Sea Shell.
The house with its unique construction dates back to 1935. It was once a private residence and later served as a bomb depot during WWII. The house was refurbished in 1973 and the conch shells were cleaned and covered with transparent lacquer. Perhaps best of all, the Conch Shell House is available for rent to tourists.
If you enter the house you would be surrounded by a wonderful shell themed interior. This amazing house is made entirely from recycled and found materials – the faucets are made out of coral, the towel racks are made from conch shells and other seashells and items found on the local beach. The main room has no corners – it is round. The home features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, air-conditioning, internet access and a private swimming pool.
