Poland’s first capital

The rich architecture and significant historical importance of the Poznan city are good reason to fun trip for people from all walks of life. Poznan is the second main centre of the first Polish state that emerged here in the Middle Ages. With a strategic position on the Berlin – Moscow train line, one of the most beautiful cities north of the Alps – Poznan will be for many their first experience of Poland. It has a stunning central square, thriving night-life, fascinating museums and many attractions in the surrounding area.

The most popular starting point for exploring the city is Renaissance Town Hall. Must-see attractions include Stary Rynek (the old square), Mickiewicz Square, the Zamek, Franciscan Church, the Cathedral Island and the stern Prussian castle. Explore sights such as the King’s Castle with its impressive Museum of Applied Arts and the Emperor’s District, a regal complex of buildings centred around the charming Rose Courtyard. The most notable events of the Poznan year are the International Trade Fairs, held since 1925 and comprising over 40 specialised exhibitions.
