One of the oldest and most esteemed film festivals on the planet, the 67th Venice Film Festival in Venice,Italy starts this year on September 1 and runs through to September 11  2010 when the awards and winners will be announced.

The festival’s principal awards are the Leone d’Oro (Golden Lion), which is awarded to the best film screened at the festival, and the Coppa Volpi (Volpi Cup), which is awarded to the best actor and actress.

At the end of every summer as a part of the Venice Biennale  the Venice Film Festival takes place on the island of Lido,Venice,Italy
