The decision to build El-Badi Palace, Marrakech, the “incomparable palace” was taken by the Saadian Sovereign Ahmed el-Mansour as a celebration after his victory against the Portuguese army during the Battle of the Three Kings in 1578. The construction of this sumptuous palace lasted from 1578 to 1603. The richest materials were used to decorate the 360 rooms of the princely complex.

The Mentawai Islands, Indonesia are situated about 150km west of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean. They sit on the edge of a continental shelf where deep water surges up onto the coral reefs that surround and protect them. There are four main islands making up the chain including Siberut, Sipura and North & South Pagai. These four islands are surrounded by many smaller islands. Their position makes them an excellent location for those seeking great surf and diving.

On leaving Marrakech, the Ouzoud Waterfalls are natural marvels that are not to be taken for granted. Indeed, they are reached by a journey of more than 150 Km, i.e. around 2hr30, which uses several shortcuts. Nevertheless, the most famous waterfalls in Morocco are worth the trip. Approximately 110 metres high, its waters rebound on several landings and throw fine drops into the air. The waterfalls are therefore almost constantly surrounded by a beautiful rainbow.

Over time, the Koutoubia mosque has become an emblem of Marrakech, Morocco. Its construction was decided in 1158 by the sultan Almohades Abdel Moumen soon after his conquest of Marrakech. It was completed in 1199 with the construction of its famous minaret ordered by the sultan’s grandson, Yacoub el-Mansour.
