Hotel Der Teufelhof

The Der Teufelhof in Basel is an unique hotel with 33 rooms. These rooms are situated either in the historic building called the Art Hotel, or in the more modern part of the building, the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and one suite, all of which have been created as works of art to live in. Changing, thematically arranged exhibitions are held in the Gallery Hotel, which has 18 rooms, three junior suites and three suites.

The hotel also has two restaurants: the Bel Etage fine dining restaurant, which has one Michelin star, and the Weinstube bistro. The sumptuous offering is rounded off by a Cafe & Bar and the wine shop Falstaff, which is embedded in Basel’s historic city walls dating from the 11th and 13th centuries.

Other key elements of the cultural offering include the classically playful theatre and the various works of art, which can be marvelled at in and around the hotel.

The Kultur und Gasthaus Der Teufelhof Basel opened in 1989. The former owners, Monica and Dominique Thommy-Kneschaurek have thus fulfilled a lifetime dream. The main objective was to pique curiosity and to be a broker between personalities and their quality products as well as the guests. Both in the area of gastronomy and also in that of theatre and the visual arts. The theatre visitor should be made aware of the dining culture and the visual arts, the gourmets made curious about the theatre work as well as the art rooms and exhibitions, while admirers of art installations were taught to appreciate the arts of cooking and stage. Location: Basel, Switzerland.
