Snowkiting at Georgetown Lake
Georgetown Lake is an excellent spot to get into snow kiting and to rip up Montana‘s famous powder. There is a 600 foot high hill across the lake for up and downhill playing. There are also lots of other places to kite within a short distance of the lodges. During the winter the snow kiting is fantastic. Snow falls every other day refreshing the powder on the lake. Wind is regular and averages 15-20. The season is usually from Thanksgiving to Easter.

There are 3 restaurants on the lake within 5 miles of the launch site. Also the towns of Philipsburg and Anaconda are a short drive away. Georgetown Lake Lodge is a rustic log lodge with 11 rooms and a nice bar and restaurant. Rooms rate $65 a night, but they give a discount for kiteboarders. Some bars in Anaconda and Philipsburg, have “ice-off” boards in which patrons place wagers as to when the lake will have open water. Other sport activities include the Ski area, which is 10 miles from the launch site, snowmobile rentals are available, as well as cross country trails. During the summer the lake also offers a wide range of activities such as water skiing, shore fishing for trout, lake fishing for trout, camping and picnicking. How to get there: Fly into Butte, Montana, United States. The lake is 35 miles from the airport, just past Anaconda.
